Oshimeter
Synopsis
In the year 2199, Earth is a mere shell of its former glory after a vicious bombardment by the Gamilas Empire. The inhabitants have been forced underground to escape the irradiated surface, but the deadly radiation inches closer and closer to the retreating population. With only one year before complete and utter extermination, time is fast running out and hope is in short supply. So far, any attempt to escape or retaliate has been instantly annihilated by the alien empire—until an emergency transmission from the planet Iscandar in a neighboring galaxy offers a glimmer of hope to save the doomed planet. Covertly, Earth's Self Defense Force constructs a faster than light engine for a journey to Iscandar. Armed with new weapons and a determined crew of fearless navy men, the World War II era battleship Yamato is reborn as Space Battleship Yamato. She and her crew set out on a perilous journey across the stars to save their home and the entire human race.

daxyhn13★★★★★EP 26A truly great ending. It's bittersweet and even brought me to tears, but it ultimately ends on a hopeful and uplifting note. It serves as a satisfying conclusion to the journey o the journey, and there is no loose ends either, for me anyway.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 25A really good, tranquil episode. It has a bittersweet atmosphere bu some good happens, abd really like how it turns out. Overall, it's a very satisfying episode. Unfortunately, some idiots ruined it.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 24The enemy's defeat feels pretty anticlimactic. I wish it had taken more than a single episode to resolve. Even though we see more of the Gamilas throughout the series, they still come across as fairly one-dimensional. That said, the depiction of the planet Gamilas is beautiful, and the torpedo sequence is visually impressive, although it goes on a bit longer than necessary. The destruction itself, however, is highly symbolic, and emotional.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 23It took the Yamato more than 20 episodes to reach the halfway point of its journey, yet it reaches Gamilas in less than two episodes. Most of this episode is dedicated to exposition, which is fine since we haven't learned much about Gamilas until now. However, I do wish they had shown more of the people living there to humanize them a bit. As it is, the planet mostly a doom planet.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 22Although the spotlight of this episode is the spaceship battle, which I have to admit is very good, my favorite part is the funeral scene. It powerfully highlights the true cost of war and reminds us that both sides suffer losses. That emotional moment gives the episode much more depth beyond the action.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 21This episode mainly serves as setup for the next battle. I'm really starting to like Domel as a character, and I also rea;llycup exchange scene with the Yamato crew. Even though there's not much action this time, it's still a good episode overall.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 20This episode has several decisions that I found pretty dumb. The enemy's plan is overly convoluted, and the fact that the Yamato falls for it makes it even harder to take seriously. Desler's actions are probably the biggest offender. Even so, it's still a solid episode overall, with plenty of tense moments that keep it entertaining.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 19This time, the enemy's plan is to attack the crew psychologically rather than through brute force. The plan almost succeeds and creates some genuinely tense moments, but the resolution feels a bit anticlimactic.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 18Another episodic episode centered around yet another Gamilas plan to destroy the Yamato. This time, however, the focus is on Sanada, giving him more depth and exploring his relationship with Kodai. The episode does a great job of building tension, and by the end I was genuinely worried about how things would turn out. Overall, it's another good episode.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 17Another episode centered around Gamilas' latest attempt to destroy the Yamato. While the plan itself isn't bad, I found the design of the giant creature they used to be rather boring. The other major development is Captain Okita's condition, which has me genuinely worried about him. The battle itself is enjoyable since the crew has to rely on their own skills. Overall, it's another solid episode.
daxyhn13★★★★☆EP 16A rather fillery episode, but it does a good job of showcasing what life is like under Gamilas rule and offers a new perspective on Analyzer's character. While it doesn't move the main story forward much, it adds some welcome world-building and character development.
