In this episode, the Yamato hides within an asteroid belt while the crew repairs the ship. The plan sounds pretty ridiculous on paper, but it's executed surprisingly well. The episode also does a good job of humanizing the enemy, to the point that I actually felt a little bad for them.

The tactical cat-and-mouse game against Commander Schulz’s pursuing forces is expertly executed, showcasing that brainpower and resourcefulness are just as lethal as the Wave Motion Cannon. It’s an exceptionally satisfying episode that highlights the vital importance of the ship's support crew.

As ridiculous as the plan was, it was satisfying to see everything fall into place. The characters didn't feel dumb, and the ending was pretty tragic. The explosions looked beautiful too.
