It took the Yamato more than 20 episodes to reach the halfway point of its journey, yet it reaches Gamilas in less than two episodes. Most of this episode is dedicated to exposition, which is fine since we haven't learned much about Gamilas until now. However, I do wish they had shown more of the people living there to humanize them a bit. As it is, the planet mostly a doom planet.

The sense of panic and urgency on the bridge is completely intoxicating as the crew realizes that their armor is dissolving by the second. It’s a breathtaking, incredibly tense episode that perfectly sets the stage for the ultimate final conflict.

Mostly exposition at the beginning with a bit of action mixed in. It's starting to get more suspenseful as they get closer to their destination.
