Chrono Crusade
📖 SYNOPSIS
Chrono Crusade is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Moriyama, serialized in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Comic Dragon from December 1998 to 2003 and later in Monthly Dragon Age until May 2004. The manga was adapted into a 24-episode anime television series by Studio Gonzo, directed by Yū Kō, which aired on Fuji TV from November 23, 2003, to June 10, 2004. Licensed in North America by ADV Films, the English dub aired on Showtime Beyond from February to July 2006. Set in 1920s America, primarily New York, the story follows Sister Rosette Christopher, a spirited teenage nun of the Magdalene Order, a fictional religious organization tasked with exorcising demons. Rosette is partnered with Chrono, a kind-hearted demon bound to her through a magical contract that shortens her lifespan whenever he uses his full powers. Together, they battle demonic threats while searching for Rosette’s missing brother, Joshua, who was kidnapped by Aion, a sinister demon with a dark history tied to Chrono. The narrative blends action, comedy, and gothic fantasy with emotional depth, exploring themes of love, redemption, and sacrifice. The anime follows the manga’s first four volumes but diverges significantly in its latter half, creating a distinct storyline and ending.
