Oshimeter
Synopsis
Known as the school's biggest delinquent, Chika Kudou raises eyebrows when he walks into the nearly-dead koto club wanting to join, and the lone remaining member Takezou isn't exactly thrilled. But Chika's not there to cause trouble — his grandfather was a koto craftsman, and learning to play is the only way he knows to honor the man he lost. Then there's Satowa Houzuki, a koto prodigy carrying her own baggage, who rounds out this unlikely group of misfits trying to keep their club from being shut down. What starts as a scramble for enough members to survive becomes something deeper as they push toward a national competition together. This is a 13-episode TV series that nails the thing music anime live or die by: making you feel the performances. The koto is a traditional Japanese instrument most people haven't heard much of, and the show uses that unfamiliarity to its advantage — every piece hits with genuine weight because you're discovering the music alongside the characters. The character writing is where it really shines, though. Everyone in this club is working through something, and the growth feels earned rather than rushed. If you liked the emotional gut punches in Your Lie in April, the team dynamics of Sound! Euphonium, or the competitive spirit of Chihayafuru built around a niche Japanese art form, this one's in that lane. Quiet, emotional, and surprisingly gripping once it gets its hooks in you.

rizzkamalia★★★★★VerifiedEP 1For a first episode, it’s a mix of funny and a bit sad. Even though they just met, I like their dynamic. Chika gets mad easily, which actually adds to the comedy. Then it shifts into a more emotional tone when it touches on Chika and her grandfather. Curious to see what’s next!
