Synopsis

Don't let the blank expression and average test scores fool you — Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is possibly the most dangerous student in his school, and you'd never know it from looking at him. He keeps his head down, scores average grades on purpose, and lets everyone around him think he's nobody. That quiet facade is what makes Classroom of the Elite so addictive to watch unfold. In this fourth season, Ayanokouji and his classmates hit their second year at the Advanced Nurturing High School — a place where your class ranking basically determines your entire future. Right away, things get complicated. A new batch of first-year students arrives, and the school throws everyone into a special exam that pairs upperclassmen with these newcomers for a written test. The catch: only the second-years face expulsion if their team tanks. And to make things worse, there are rumors that one of the new first-years came from the White Room — the same secretive facility that shaped Ayanokouji into whatever he really is. The whole vibe is psychological chess. Every conversation has layers, every alliance could be a trap, and Ayanokouji is always three moves ahead of everyone while pretending he's not even playing. If you liked the scheming in Kakegurui or the classroom power dynamics of Assassination Classroom, this scratches a similar itch but with a colder, more calculated edge. Studio Lerche keeps the tension tight and the atmosphere uneasy. It's the kind of show where a quiet conversation in a hallway feels more dangerous than a fight scene.

Classroom of the Elite Season 4 delivered with its adaptation, a new direction with a new director Noriyuki Nomata (directorial debut), new animators and some veteran animators of the series! Lerche delivered a very satisfying adaptation! We, as fans of the series needed this! I couldn’t be any happier with this! They tried something new and artistic for this season and I’m so glad they did, even if sometimes they’re a miss, but majority of the time they HIT! As a light novel fan and reader of this series, as well as a filmmaker, this season is definitely made for me! I love the choices they did in certain scenes, some subtle foreshadowings, show not tell elements, and very BEAUTIFUL VISUALS! Even though I have some criticisms for this season, I appreciate the effort and dedication they have done for this season! I know the director went all out with this adaptation, considering he directed MANY EPISODES himself! The soundtracks NEVER MISS as always! Thank you for listening to the fans, to everyone involved in this season of COTE, I truly thank all of you! You deserve my rating of 10/10!🔥

This episode continues the series’ signature slow-burn psychological atmosphere. Instead of focusing on action or dramatic events, it emphasizes subtle interactions, hidden intentions, and the constant manipulation happening between students. Ayanokoji remains calm and almost invisible on the surface, but his presence still feels like it influences everything around him. The class dynamics are shifting quietly, and even small conversations seem to carry deeper meaning. What stands out is how the show makes ordinary school situations feel like strategic battles, where no one fully reveals their real thoughts. The pacing is deliberate, requiring attention to detail from the viewer. Rather than giving clear answers, the episode sets up uncertainty and tension about future conflicts. It’s less about what is happening right now, and more about what is being planned underneath it all.
