The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Whether people in the room fear him or underestimate him, Tatsuya Shiba makes them all regret it either way. Season 3 picks up as Tatsuya and his sister Miyuki enter their second year at First High School, with Tatsuya transferring into the new Magical Engineering department. Fresh faces show up too, including the Saegusa twins and a guy named Takuma Shippou who's carrying some serious family grudges. But the real tension isn't in the school hallways, but it's the political machinery grinding outside. Anti-magic movements are picking up steam, pushed by scheming politicians and media manipulation, and the powerful families pulling strings behind the scenes are starting to clash. The Yotsuba family warns Tatsuya, and he does what he always does: methodically dismantles threats while keeping that signature deadpan composure. This season leans harder into the political intrigue side, which honestly makes it more interesting than just another magic school tournament arc. The magic system here still feels distinct: less wand-waving, more military-grade technology fused with sorcery, and 8bit's animation handles the battle sequences with real precision. Taku Iwasaki's soundtrack keeps the atmosphere tense when it needs to be. If you liked the strategic power dynamics in A Certain Magical Index or the magic-meets-military vibe of The Asterisk War, this scratches a similar itch. It's 13 episodes, so it doesn't overstay its welcome. Worth your time if you're already invested, and a solid reason to catch up if you're not.

I didn't expect the ending to be like that! I was hoping to see something even more intense when they encounter Zhou but it was quite short? However the ending is such a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next season to come!
As we get closer to the ending, they face more and more challenges just to get their hands on "him". Zhou's tricks and hiding methods made it extra hard for them to trace him. Can't wait to see what will happen when they finally find him!
There's a lot of fighting scenes in this episode and we can see the amount of power the enemy holds. The impact of losing someone due to a mission can be devastating and wishing to find the murderer is understandable. It's a pretty chilling episode!
This episode is quite intense and Zhou Koukin's character is a huge menace. He is highly intelligent but can be very dangerous! The future conflict will definitely be worse after what happened at the end of this episode.
This episode is more on the serious note. Tatsuya is always so serious when it comes to Miyuki's safety but her strength is equally splendid. I was hoping to see Miyuki shine as bright as him in the future!
Tatsuya's combat skill and animation is absolutely stunning! The way he execute his mission with that calm expression is so cool and worth to watch. Don't forget to watch the ending after the outro!
The visuals during the competition are beautiful! I enjoyed this episode the most because of the balance in action, mystery and surprise element. The ending was a little dark especially with the realization of the hidden dangers surrounding the competition.
This episode is getting more and more intense by the second. I'm intrigued to see the progress and what they will do to counter the Weapon. The political parties working in secret to manipulate and control the situation is quite scary to be honest.
The early scenes were intense but the short funny scene between Tatsuya and those three Saegusa sisters definitely lighten up the mood! The intense vibe I felt while watching this episode especially the ending scene made me wonder, what will happen to all magicians in the future?
The opening scene was absolutely awesome! This episode contains a lot of dueling scenes and can be humbling to people who constantly belittle others. Shippou arrogance was definitely challenged this time.
Tatsuya's brilliant idea for the experiment was a genius move! I love it when we see the presentation and they all worked together as a team, proving that they all have good faith in him. Tatsuya is truly a good leader example!
We can feel the political tension rising in this episode. It feels kind of heavy to watch but the intensity is what hooks the audience to know more especially towards the end.
In Season 3 episode 1, it feels refreshing to see both Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki Shiba return to school. The art and visual used in this episode is great and I enjoyed the misunderstanding scene between Tatsuya and the three Saegusa siblings. Mayumi's reaction is so adorable!
What an incredibly tense yet exciting episode! The plot moves forward with some fantastic combat scenes that showcase our favorite side's skills; meanwhile, the secrets of the clans just never seem to end.
The animation is incredibly fluid, especially during the combat scenes which look amazing. The plot continues to unfold in a strategic, investigative atmosphere where Tatsuya truly shines as a leader.
The characters' combat skills are honestly amazing, both for their raw power and their unique traits. Plus, the secrets surrounding the clan families are genuinely chilling. While the pacing has slowed down, the plot is becoming really interesting.
I love seeing the members of each clan put their skills into action; both their raw power and the unique visual effects that define them are amazing. The animation tends to be very fluid, yet stays incredibly detailed right when it needs to be.
The episode returns to a slow and calm pace, with the plot focusing more on strategy rather than action. I love the protective dynamic between Miyuki and Tatsuya; plus, the way they pay such close attention to their surroundings is incredible.
The episode is packed with action! The pacing is great and flows really well; plus, Tatsuya’s combat skills are seriously cool. The plot development surrounding the weapons was totally unexpected.
What an exciting episode! The competition scenes are amazing, and the visual effects for the magic abilities are so crisp and fluid. On the other hand, those final moments are incredibly mysterious.
