TAMAYOMI: The Baseball Girls

Tamayomi hits its last episode with the conclusion for the second match of the summer tournament and the power of yuri in this episode is off the charts! Even if it is not an yuri anime. Tamayomi hits a nice conclusion to a show that had a lot of potential, but sadly ended up capped by less than average adaptation. With a bigger budget or even a shot at a second season, the show had the potential to be a new long running sports series of this decade, sadly, that ended up not being the case.

The match against Ryoyukan continues in a tension and pressure filed maner. This episode shows very clearly how hard baseball can be and how terrifying it can be to face a team as powerful as a National’s powerhouse, yet, it is still inspiring to see how the girls from Shin Koshibaya are not giving up and doing their all to win.

The second match of the summer tournament is on and against such a high quality powerhouse team, it is fair to say that the pressure is on for the Shin Koshigaya girls. Can the girls perform well? Is their baseball enough to score a win? Those are questions that floods everyone’s mind as we dive deep into this match!

The first match of the summer tournament continues. With a riled up opponent, the girls from Shin Koshigaya needs to step up if they want to win the match and proceed with the tournament. A really good first match, that shows much our girls have grown, but most importantly, is really entertaining and fun to watch.

Tamayomi starts its tournament arc with the first game for the Shin Koshigaya girls, a game that might not be as easy as they were hoping for. Facing a team that they have very little data and almost no way to truly prepare for, how can the girls prevail? A really good match starts, with better animations than in previous episodes, but still, could very well benefit from a bigger budget.

And with their first victory in a practice match, it is finally time for the Summer Tournament to start, and with it comes its first battle, getting a good position in the brackets! Tamayomi is reaching with its climax with the tournament arc and seeing how much these girls have grown in such a short time makes you quite excited to see how far they will be able to go.

The summer tournament is quickly approaching and it is time to put all that training during training camp into a match!! But more than just a test, this match is a chance of putting to rest many small troubles that’ve been weighting on team, from Nozomi’s worries to Yomi’s pitching, can the girls finally snatch their first win?

If there’s any canon event that any sport themed anime needs, it is a training camp arc or episode, and for Tamayomi that is no different. After the loss on the previous match, it is time for the girls to intensify their training with a small training camp if they were want to hope to win the tournament and make it to the Nationals.

2 new girls and a official baseball match, Tamayomi gives its first steps into proper baseball, but even though the episode is enjoyable and the match is great, the show really hurts from the quality of its art. It is really obvious the show would benefit a lot from a bigger budget that could allow animators and artists to deliver a higher quality episode that the first official match deserved.

With the situation with the upperclassmen resolved, the club is even closer to be complete, but still… 7 members is not enough for them to compete. Even if this still is a setup episode, Tamayomi brings some more wholesome baseball action while finishing to introduce the cast so the show can properly start with its plot.

Our baseball girls continue with their goal of revitalizing the club, but with only 4 of them, that is not enough for a club, much less for a baseball game. The club hiatus, the upperclassmen, what could have happened in the past and in what way can the girls bring their senpais back?

Aaaaaah, the baseball yuri! Okay, I know it is not really yuri, but it has enough of an enough yuri aura in my heart to be counted as one. A story about highschool girls, reencounters and most importantly, baseball. While Tamayomi has a more dated art style even for when it originally aired, it is still a very cute and enjoyable show to watch and this first episode is a good introduction for our main girls.

A good finale. Although I wished the quality of the show was more consistent throughout. The ending does leave a positive feeling though, with emphasis on the love of the game.

Somewhat of an improvement in visuals. I wouldn't gripe so much about it if the show is consistent about it, but alas. It does show the difference of level in high-level competition and how fierce it can be. It's both part motivating and intimidating.

The stakes feel a bit higher here, and the show never loses sight of its team-first mentality. The visual for the baseball action is, well, it's better. But I wouldn't say it's great. It's a bit of an improvement over the last episode, though.

There's a plot about building confidence as well as game-flow and momentum. Unfortunately, I just can't ignore the poor presentation. It's probably the worst in the season so far. There's so much reliance on poor CGI for its visuals it really takes me out of the viewing experience.

Can't say I like this episode very much, especially regarding its visual presentation. There's a reliance on CGI that kinda soured most of the episode for me, even with the nugget of plot about steady improvement in the background.

A quieter breather episode. More of a reflective atmosphere throughout the episode. There's a focus on friendship and encouragement as a way of strengthening the team's overall dynamic. Presentation is a bit lacking, though.

There's a noticeable increase in the visual presentation in this episode. There's a satisfying sense of progress as we see results of previous episodes' hard work. Some nice character moments littered throughout as well.

There plenty of character moments to highlight in this episode. Unfortunately, I can't say those character moments are interesting enough to fully carry an episode on their own. It results in the episode dragging a bit in the pacing, for all its efforts.
