Synopsis
Meet Rintaro Okabe: an 18-year-old self-proclaimed mad scientist with the full package: a lab coat, dramatic monologues into his phone, and a "secret lab" that's really just a rented apartment above a TV shop in Akihabara. He and his friends, childhood companion Mayuri and resident hacker Daru, tinker with junk gadgets that don't really do anything. Their most impressive invention is a microwave that turns bananas into green gel. Then they accidentally figure out how to send text messages to the past, and everything stops being funny. The first handful of episodes are slow and quirky, almost slice-of-life, which throws some people off. Stick with it. Around the midpoint, this 24-episode TV series shifts hard into something deeply tense and emotional, and all that early setup pays off in ways you won't see coming. The time travel mechanics are surprisingly well thought out. things actually have consequences here, and the show doesn't hand-wave its own rules. White Fox adapted this from a visual novel, and the character writing is where it really shines. You end up caring about these people way more than you'd expect from the goofy opening episodes. If you liked the desperate, repeating-to-fix-things energy of Re:Zero or the emotional gut punches in Erased, this is in that same territory but with a tighter sci-fi framework. Fans of The Tatami Galaxy's structural cleverness will appreciate how everything connects. Just give it time to build.

Steins;Gate Episode 12 completely caught me off guard. The first 11 episodes had this slow, almost carefree feeling, like I was watching a weird summer slice-of-life anime with some time travel thrown into it. And then this episode happened. The shift was insane. The moment Mayuri gets shot, everything suddenly becomes terrifyingly real. Watching Okabe completely break down and desperately try to understand what just happened was honestly devastating. It felt like the entire tone of the series changed in a matter of minutes. What makes the twist hit even harder is that the earlier episodes suddenly start feeling completely different in hindsight. All those seemingly random conversations and little moments now carry a completely different weight. This episode was the point where Steins;Gate went from “I’m enjoying this” to “I NEED to know what happens next.” Absolute turning point.
If you start the anime and begin to wonder "when does the action actually start?" My advice is to stick to the grind because you will be rewarded. The story itself has certain holes, some character development feels superficial at times. BUT... somehow this series still hits where it matters - the main protagonist's dynamic. The causality, the time travel and the worldlines are fascinating. Don't get me wrong. BUT... It's the fact that after spending an entire series watching characters manipulate timelines, paradoxes and causality, you eventually realize that what you're really watching is a story about how desperately people cling to one another when the universe gives them permission to lose everything. Okabe/Rintarou is also one of my favourite characters of all time, so... I guess there is some bias slipping in here. El Psy Congroo.
It's fucking peak
After getting you hooked with the starting episode the anime slows down a little bit but gets going after a few episodes. Other than that not a single complaint The way the anime makes you worry is soo good. How they slowly tinker with the timeline and seeing the small changes pile up, you know it’s all gonna come crashing down. Loved the direction of the anime, the camera angles, the fisheye view and just certain animation moments that made you a bit more connected to the story telling and for the feel for the anime. For new viewers, be patient and try pay attention the first few episodes. After that you don’t need to try to pay attention you will get hooked.
The best plot all the time
have some plot holes but still 10/10
Da vedere
Steins;Gate is a brilliant sci-fi anime with an intelligent story, unforgettable characters, and outstanding emotional depth. It starts slowly but gradually builds into a gripping time travel thriller filled with suspense and unexpected twists. Okabe Rintarou is one of the most memorable protagonists in anime, and the relationships between the characters make every moment meaningful. With excellent storytelling, strong character development, and a satisfying ending, Steins;Gate is a masterpiece and a must-watch for fans of science fiction.
The best time-travel series made by far. Every single character has a density that is uncommon for 99% of animes
This is the one I eager to watch when I first met Anime in a new channel on TV with satellite into IPTV I never heard before. It was a psychadelic to me watching in night until I found out that this series basically a visual novel game turn into actually anime.
The best
Highly engaging and funny. Some stuff is a little dated, however, and the whole game isn't adapted.
Amazing plot and at the same time also great character building and a good bit or Romance as well
It has a brilliant storyline and great imaginary element which attracts me so much. Even rewatch nowadays, it still a masterpiece.
Based visual novel adaptation. Classic canonical work.
The writing is phenomenal; who knew a story that looks greyish and boring would be such an enticing anime to watch? The drama, the romance, the comedy, and the buildup to the plot twist and ending left me satisfied to the end.
STARTED SLOW BUT IT WAS GENUINTELY A GOOD ANIME. GOOD STORY, MEMORABLE CHARACTERS AND A GOOD CONCLUSION.
kachow, future man teleports back to the past
Amazing characters. Kurisu is awesome. Okabe is a great protagonist. Such a well written plot where every episode and decision is relevant and all makes sense. Very suspenseful while watching.
Pure peak narratively
