This episode in its entirety made the ending discovery/accomplishment of Okabe feel well-earned. Every episode feels concise, with individual goals & a story that's well set up beforehand. It makes the episode feel really whole in a way!

The whole maid cafe section felt a little unnecessary up until the end, so did many of the character interactions. It made their discoveries feel natural + realistic yes, but also made the story feel pretty dragged out imo.

It seems that Makise's refusal to believe in time travel is deeply rooted in her past/some scandal with her father. This instantly added so much more depth to her (mostly) cold attitude towards Okarin!

The mystery continues now with Okabe and Daru being able to read SERN secret experiments. “Human is dead”, but what that means? The answer relies on the use of the IBM 5100, but where could they find it? Is with these questions that the episode continues with its intriguing tale

The Journey of Okubo Research needs Colab with Rukisu To Finding Old Electronics in Yanagibayashi Shrine. This story has a conflict. It has a unique Climax of the story episode

It continues to deepen the mystery surrounding the lab’s experiments. At this point, the curiosity really kicks in every new test they conduct feels like it’s leading toward something bigger. Okabe still fully committed to his Kyouma persona remains one of the most entertaining

More mysteries pile up as Okarin receives confirmation from John Titor on what he needs to have in order to decode a certain project by SERN. On the other side, Kurisu is still contemplating on what happened with the microwave and denies what happened. Okarin, for all his antics, briefly shows a side of him here that's surprisingly considerate - which I found cute.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off episode 3's unsettling discoveries about SERN, this fourth episode pivots from uncovering secrets to acting on them, as the team takes concrete steps to acquire the tools needed for deeper investigation. It's firmly in Steins;Gate's early-game phase — still establishing its cast and building the machinery of its plot before the series' notorious tonal shift. The groundwork laid here around the IBN 5100 and the expanding circle of characters directly feeds into the escalating tension of the episodes ahead.
