Great episode! It did feel a little dragged out towards the end, but Okabe and Kurisu's awkward interactions felt refreshing. After all the trauma, he still can't catch a break though. The story seems to be reaching a flatline now too.

A very "finale-like" episode. Yet it feels like the story is still incomplete! Even though most of the central conflict and complicated time travel has been resolved (i.e. world line and microwave phone) something feels largely missing within the story.

The primary focus of this episode was Makise, which felt fitting with the previous cliffhanger and the importance of her relationship with Okarin. Her presence was extremely grounding during every time leap, so much so that their relationship is easily the most significant to the plot. Finally clarifying it before the finale and her leaving feels bittersweet.

“There’s only one option.” The final sacrifice that can save Mayuri, but when it is time to act, it ends up becoming the hardest mission that Okabe had to face. Between guilty and acceptance, Okabe and Kurisu have to figure out what they want, feel and ultimately have to do.

It is both romantic and heartbreaking. Their kiss was sweet and meaningful because Kurisu wanted Okabe to have a memory of her before he returns to the original worldline. Also, it’s sad knowing that once the timeline is fixed, she can't remember Okabe.

This is Sad For Fans for this episode, because Okabe and Kurisu spent many Hours Before She left, then Okabe Decided Erase The Data BY IBN 5100 Hack to reset the world from Enemy, Its Has A cliffhanger episode to prepare final episode

It's very clear that Kurisu has already made her mind, while Okarin is still fixated in finding a way to save both her and Mayuri. Many of Kurisu's words land harsh on Okarin but it's the kind of truth that he needed to hear, having been through the same loop over and over again. I really want to keep rooting for Okarin to win, to find that 1% where he gets the ending he and everyone deserves.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned as episode 22 of 24, 'Being Meltdown' follows the paradox-laden consequences Okabe confronted in the previous episode and serves as the emotional fulcrum before the series' climactic resolution. This is the penultimate buildup — the quiet before the storm — crystallizing the Okabe-Kurisu relationship as the emotional core driving everything toward the finale. It directly sets the stage for 'Open the Steins Gate,' where the series will deliver its endgame.
