The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today

Synopsis
Meet Saku Fukuzawa, a regular office worker running on fumes, juggling long commutes, late nights, the whole grind. The one thing keeping her life from falling apart is her cat, Yukichi. Except Yukichi is a massive black Maine Coon who stands taller than her and has somehow decided he's in charge of the household. He cooks dinner, does the laundry, goes grocery shopping, and generally keeps things running while Saku stumbles through her work schedule. Nobody can really explain why or how this cat got so big or so competent, and the show doesn't stress about it either. That's kind of the charm. This 13-episode TV series from 2023 is pure comfort viewing. The whole vibe is watching a giant fluffy cat silently judge his owner's life choices while also making sure she eats a proper meal. It's warm, it's funny in a low-key way, and it never tries to be more than what it is: a cozy slice-of-life with one very capable cat. If you liked the domestic odd-couple energy of Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, or the absurd cohabitation humor of Gal to Kyouryuu, this fits right in that lane. There's also some Gokushufudou energy here, just swap the yakuza househusband for a cat who's arguably more intimidating. It's the kind of show you throw on after a rough day when you just want something gentle and a little ridiculous.

a cozy dream! Yukichi’s domestic prowess reaches new heights as he handles a DIY crisis and Saku’s chaotic habits. The blend of dry humor and heartwarming care is perfect. Who wouldn't want a giant, talented cat chef?
What a cute way to end the season! While the episode itself felt fairly ordinary, the flashback gave it a heartfelt finale vibe (I just love Yukichi's little "kekeke" 💗). I really hope this gets a Season 2 because it's such a top-tier healing anime, and you can tell how much effort went into the animation. I only wish we could've seen the grandma next door and the boss too since it’s the last episode anyway 😔
When they were talking about the health benefits of having a cat, mine was literally purring in my lap, so I can definitely attest to that lmao. I honestly thought this was the last episode because it ended with a flashback, but thankfully it wasn't. Now I'm curious to see how they'll wrap up the season.
So much happened in this episode that I don't even know where to start xD My favorite part was definitely the open-minded scene, which I never expected from a slice-of-life cat anime lolol. I hope we get more interactions with the side characters because their dynamic with the MCs makes the series even more enjoyable.
I teared up during this episode even though there was literally nothing to cry about LMAO 😭 The whole episode was just Saku and Yukichi missing each other. It was such a sweet reminder of how important they are to each other. Officially my favorite episode!!
"You are a masterful cat indeed." TITLE MENTIONED! I loved how this episode was made up of different skits while highlighting just how reliable both of our MCs are to everyone around them, yet complete goofballs at home. Also, I adore the Yukichi and Dia duo, they're so cutee huhuhu 💗
Saku, I was wrong about you... YOU ARE AN INCREDIBLE HUMAN BEING! This episode gives us another look at how Yukichi was adopted, which just showed us how caring Saku really is. Seeing everything from Yukichi's perspective made it clear just how precious Saku is to him 🥹
LMAO what a funny episode! I’m not really a fan of Saku’s coworkers constantly talking about marriage this, marriage that, but I guess they’re at that age… It’s also hilarious how wild Saku’s imagination can get. She doesn’t need a husband, she already has Yukichi who is more capable than humans!
This episode feels more grounded since it focuses on Yukichi and Saku's everyday life at home. We also get to meet Saku's parents, finally. I always wondered how they let someone so hopeless with chores live alone lolol. Special mention to Yukichi's wild imagination and adorable attachment towards Saku despite Yukichi constantly scolding her 🥹 I love Yukichi and his expressions so much <3
Wow, Kaoru sure did grow up rich... Also, it's so heartwarming that Yukichi, a black cat, is seen as a bringer of good luck and fortune when black cats are usually considered bad luck (at least in my place). Saku really hit the jackpot with a dependable cat like Yukichi.
Final Episode Woo! I loved how Yukichi could share his interests with Yume. Yukichi will forever want the best for Saku even he calls her silly names hehe. I actually think Saku wouldn't survive without him. We also get to learn how Yukichi became the cat that he is today! overall this has been such a peaceful and slice of life anime I would definitely recommend it!
Hehe, I love it when Yukichi beatboxes! I need myself a house cat that can always prepare meals for me like Yukichi hehe. I also enjoy how a can of beer is such a casualty for Saku. I would have never thought that a pet and an pet owner would compliment each other so well hehe.
A chilled episode, poor Saku but I am sure Yukichi is doing the best for her, the episode was laid back compared to the others. At the end of the day I enjoy how they both show each other that they care for one another.
Saku crying cause she has to leave Yukichi is so cute and sad. I love how she realises she literally can't live without him. At this point Saku's friends think she is a crazy cat owner lol.
I would genuinely get myself a cat if it were like Yukichi; Saku is so lucky to have him! Saku doesn't have any cat problems and i love how Yuri just suspects her lol. Yukichi coming into Saku's life basically improved her standard of living and its great that people from outside are seeing it.
Aww, Yume is so adorable. I mean who doesn't love her. Yukichi acts like a parent and it's so funny hehe, I am happy that Yukichi and Saku are expanding their circle of friends. I also love how Yukichi and Saku take care of each other.
LOL, I love how every time Saku comes out with a nicely and deliciously packed lunch box her friends assume she is trying to get married lol but really its the cat hehe. This anime is always making me laugh and giggle, Saku and Yukichi a such characters! Also the wallpaper was such a genius move.
Behind every human , there is a masterful cat is what I wIll say about this episode, I enjoy how sometimes it feels like Saku is the cat and the cat is Saku. I love how Saku got Yukichi a present and he didnt use it the way she expected. Yukichi gets so happy for the things you would never expect a cat to be happy about .This anime is definitely so unpredictable lol.
Such a funny and cute episode! Yukichi is always putting Saku in awkward and funny situations and the best part is that he is usually unbothered. Saku is always worrying about Yukichi that she sometimes forgets to enjoy herself, poor Saku. I love Yume so much !!
I always love how Yukichi teases Saku about literally anything and the best part is his laugh. So far this is one of my favourite episodes because it involves other characters interacting with the main characters and it is absolutely hilarious but also really enjoyable Also Yume is so cute omg!
