Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4
Oshimeter
Synopsis
For three full seasons, Kazuya Kinoshita has been paying a rental girlfriend company to spend time with the girl he's actually in love with. If that sounds painfully relatable in the worst way possible, welcome to Rent-a-Girlfriend. Season 4 picks up after Kazuya's crowdfunded movie project, and he's finally working up the nerve to tell Chizuru how he really feels, except the whole crew ends up in Hawaii, and things get messy fast. Ruka's still clinging to her claim on Kazuya, Mami's still stirring the pot, and Chizuru remains impossible to read. The Hawaii setting gives this season a different visual energy, and TMS Entertainment makes the most of it with some genuinely pretty scenery work alongside the usual expressive character animation. What keeps this show interesting despite Kazuya being, well, Kazuya, is that you can actually track his growth across four seasons. He's still awkward and overthinks everything, but the guy is trying. The romance moves at a pace that will feel familiar if you've watched Nisekoi or Toradora: lots of buildup, lots of near-misses, occasional moments that actually land. If you liked Saekano's blend of self-aware comedy and genuine emotional stakes with its harem setup, this hits a similar frequency. The soundtrack pairs well too, with ClariS handling the opening. It's 12 episodes, it knows what it is, and if you've made it through three seasons, this is where things start paying off.

The pacing is a total pressure cooker. That final, heartbreaking title card shift is pure cinema. Why do we get Mami the whole season instead of Yaemori and Sumi!!!
I think this is the most tense episode of the whole season. The pacing is relentless as Mami completely paralyzes Mizuhara with doubt. That final scene is terrifying and makes it obvious that the hammer is finally coming down next episode.
The bathhouse scenes give us some great, lighthearted character vibes. It’s an bittersweet episode that highlights the heavy emotional weight of the lie.
The pacing here is tense because while Ruka is getting completely rattled by Mami, Chizuru is having this beautiful, quiet realization about her own happiness. That final shot of Mami made me think that the next episode is going to be total carnage.
That waterslide aftermath is predictable since a lot of hints are throwed beforehand. The animation captures all of Kazuya’s panic perfectly as Mami continues to pull strings in the background.
Grandma Nagomi wastes no time playing matchmaker. The real highlight is the transition to the pool where the fanservice hits a peak. The boys in the pool are funny as hell.
The animation and pacing is great. That final cliffhanger is pure psychological horror for Kazuya, and it sets up the rest of the vacation perfectly.
Ruka pulls absolute chaos at the end of the episode. The drama is insane. It is a total rollercoaster.
The ending wasn't that good, it felt like the episode was lacking or was left unfinished, especially since the much-anticipated confession didn't happen.
The episode was well-paced and filled with suspense. Even though there was no big revelation, it felt like the collapse of Kazuya and Chizuru's lies was coming.
The family trip to Hawaii continues, but this episode focuses more on Chizuru and the significance of the engagement ring entrusted to her by the Kinoshita family. While she is with Nagomi and Harumi, she feels the true love and acceptance of Kazuya's family.
In this episode, Ruka is seen feeling very confused and insecure about her relationship with Kazuya. While they are at outing, she tries to control herself but it is clear that she wants Kazuya to be hers.
In this episode, what is more striking is not just what happened, but the way they portrayed the tension between pretense and true feelings.
The episode is full of jealousy, awkward moments. Nothing special
This episode is more pressure and awkward tension because they have a trip to Spa Resort Hawaiians not only by Kazuya's family, but also by Ruka, Kibe, Kuri, and of course Chizuru. Everything is made even more chaotic by the previous issues surrounding their fake relationship.
In this episode, the tension heats up when Mami suddenly confronts Chizuru. This isn't just a simple conversation. Mami knows everything about Chizuru, including her true identity and being a rental girlfriend.
Episode 4 isn't full of sudden drama, but it's the kind of episode with a lot of what if? and Kazuya and Chizuru's relationship deepens.
In this episode, the vibe of the story becomes more serious and upscale as Kazuya and Chizuru go to a party in Daikanyama, a social area full of artists and industry people.
In this episode, the story revolves more around the unspoken feelings and awkward tension between Kazuya and Chizuru. And why is it so hard to admit feelings?
In this episode, we see how obsessed Kazuya is with Chizuru as he tries to mend their relationship and find a way to get closer to her.
