Star Detective Precure!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
On the eve of her 14th birthday, Anna Akechi receives a magical pendant that promptly yeets her back in time from 2027 to 1999. Not exactly the present she was hoping for. Stranded in a version of her hometown that's nearly three decades younger, she meets Mikuru Kobayashi, a girl her age with big dreams of becoming a great detective. The two hit it off just in time for things to go sideways: a group called the Phantom Thieves' Guild is pulling off impossible heists across town, stealing people's most treasured possessions. To fight back and hopefully find Anna a way home, the pair transform into Cure Answer and Cure Mystique, the Star Detective Precure. This TV series from Toei Animation does something genuinely fresh with the Precure formula by weaving in actual mystery-solving and time-travel stakes. Each episode has the girls piecing together clues alongside the action sequences, so it scratches that Detective Conan itch while still delivering the transformation sequences and fairy companion energy you'd expect from the franchise. The late '90s setting gives the whole thing a warm, slightly retro vibe: think flip phones, CRT televisions, and a world before smartphones could solve half your problems. If you liked the heart of DokiDoki Precure but wished it had more whodunit energy, or if Sailor Moon crossed with a detective procedural sounds like your kind of thing, this one's worth your time.

Amazing!!!! (σ≧▽≦)σ
I'm excited to see what the future has in store!
What a rare treat! I feel like this ep and even the last one are the most memorable ones in this title. It's just that good
The visuals are insane in this ep, even her henshin moment was so cool to watch HAHAHA the bigger plot finally starts to open aaaaa
Can’t believe they had to nerf her bc she’s too OP lmao. Never in a million years that at my age, I’ll be this invested in a kids show. This ep is intense haha!
More engaging than I expected
The delivery of the lines are fantastic! They did a great job with the Cure Eclair's identity reveal :')
Didn't expect the fight scene to be this good! The team up moment and reveals were so hype too. If I was a kid, this would be mind-blowing 🤩 heck even as an adult, this is already great haha!
I can’t believe I’m this invested in a kids’ show 🤣😭 this episode exceeded my expectations like omg that was amazing! And what a cliffhanger too aaaaaa
Really good pacing overall and episode-wise. And it's cute that Pochitan was very talkative here haha
I like how they keep us guessing with these Cure Eclair candidates. I was so sure it was the last ep’s girl but now, I’m confused again
Can't believe how invested I am at a kids' show 🤣😭 the development is getting more and more interesting. Excited to see how this turns out!
I'm impressed, the narrative in this ep can suck you in as an adult, while consistently entertaining the kids with these flashy fights haha!
Looks like I have a new fave character haha! And istg these Phantom Thieves calling card thing is so hilarious idek if that's a Persona 5 reference
Woaaah did not expect things to get heavier here 😮 Love the change of pace! Luluka is getting more interesting, especially with this Eclair searching
What a well-written episode. What I like about this anime is that the main plot lines are delivered perfectly, even accounting for the fact that the target audience is younger. But it's wild that even adults can enjoy these parts
I can’t believe I’m at this point where I’m also reciting their lines and the OST lyrics bc it sticks so well 🤣 good job for a kids show!
Wow I actually enjoyed this ep haha! First of all, bc the arc is well-defined bc of that intro, the expectation with the narrative is met and even exceeded. And that reveal by Luluka was gigantic 🤯
The sleuthing here was kinda meh but the main storyline's development made things more interesting
Returning characters make a narrative fun, especially for a kid’s show. Solid episode here
