Jet's Forced Charm
The episode opens with Annna and Mikuru, the amateur detectives, attempting to coach Jet, who works at Pretty Holic, on customer service. His 'charming' smiles are stiff and awkward, a comical failure to perform genuine warmth. Their persistent prodding pushes Jet to exasperation. This lighthearted chaos is interrupted by the arrival of Moe, a new client who watches their antics with a confused expression.
The Self-Portrait Mystery
In the cafe, Moe presents her case: a self-portrait by her mother, Fumiya, a renowned landscape painter. Jet is astonished, recalling Fumiya only ever painted scenery. Moe explains this painting was recently discovered and sent to her, but she cannot fathom why her mother, who avoided self-portraits, would paint it. The painting’s title, 'The Highest Happiness', adds another layer to the enigma, leaving Annna and Mikuru intrigued.
Fumiya's Public Image
The detectives, along with Moe and Jet, begin their investigation. At a bookstore, the owner fondly recalls Fumiya as a popular public figure, often on television, but notes the absence of art books dedicated to her. Instead, there are fashion and travel magazines showcasing her. Later, at an art studio, the teacher also confirms Fumiya's exclusive focus on landscape art, offering no insight into the self-portrait. This reinforces Moe’s perception of her mother as a public figure, not a personal one.
Moe's Childhood and Misconception
Watching children paint, Moe remembers her own childhood, happily drawing alongside her focused mother, Fumiya. This memory, however, leads her to a misinterpretation: she believes her mother, a perfectionist, painted the self-portrait purely out of self-admiration. Moe concludes that 'The Highest Happiness' for her mother was Fumiya herself, a woman who always strove for an ideal image. Annna and Mikuru remain unconvinced by this cynical interpretation.
The Macaron Revelation
As Moe voices her theory, Claire offers her a macaron. Moe finds it delicious, but its slightly imperfect taste and shape spark a memory for Annna and Mikuru. They realize these macarons are homemade, just like Moe’s mother used to bake. This connection reveals Fumiya had a hidden, domestic side she kept from the world, much like her landscape paintings hid her personal art. Moe begins to grasp that her mother's true self might be concealed within the painting itself.
The Painting's True Form
Back at Moe’s apartment, Annna and Mikuru closely examine the self-portrait. Annna uses her magical mirror, which glows and reveals hidden handprints on the top and bottom of the canvas, suggesting Fumiya held it unusually. A glowing feather appears, guiding them to rotate the painting horizontally. Once reoriented, the image dramatically changes, revealing Fumiya's true, intimate self, hidden within the original composition. The detectives proclaim, "This is the answer!"
Moe's Acceptance and Usonaaru-sama's Theft
Moe gazes at the newly revealed painting, her eyes filling with tears. She softly whispers, "Mom," finally understanding her mother's deepest happiness and the painting's profound meaning. Annna and Mikuru share gentle smiles, the mystery solved, the emotional rift healed. However, this moment of peace is shattered as Phantom Thief Usonaaru-sama suddenly appears, stealing the painting. The detectives quickly transform into Cure Honey and Cure Milk, ready to retrieve it.
Retrieving the Painting
Phantom Thief Usonaaru-sama attempts to evade Cure Honey and Cure Milk by creating numerous copies of the painting. The Koala mascot transforms into a magical palette, revealing the real painting amidst the fakes. Furious, Usonaaru-sama is swiftly defeated by the combined power of the Cures. They return the painting to a grateful Moe, who embraces it with tears of joy, her understanding complete. She is shown walking hand-in-hand with her younger self, symbolizing peace and acceptance.
Jet's Effort and A New Threat
Back at Pretty Holic, Jet attempts to be more friendly, mimicking the detectives' enthusiastic greeting. His forced smile quickly collapses, and Annna and Mikuru tease him, much to his exasperation. Jet declares he will never try again and runs off, frustrated. As night falls, a mysterious woman with long grey hair, Phantom Thief Cure Arcana, appears on the roof of Pretty Holic, holding a purple fox mascot. She ominously declares, "Now, shall we begin?" setting the stage for future events.
EPISODE REVIEWS

The way the macarons became such a subtle but key clue was so good it made the whole mystery feel so personal.

I absolutely loved that painting reveal. Her greatest happiness was her daughter all along that hit me in the feels.

The painting twist with the landscape view totally got me I did not see that coming at all
