Synopsis
Aimi Miyoshi and Nami Sometani are absolutely obsessed with the most unremarkable guy in their class, and that's kind of the whole point. Aimi Miyoshi and Nami Sometani spend their days dissecting every tiny thing about Ken Kirio, a boy with mediocre grades, forgettable soccer skills, and nothing obviously special going on. But to them, he's endlessly fascinating, and their shared fixation fuels both their friendship and a low-key rivalry that neither of them fully acknowledges. Kirio Fanclub, a TV series from Satelight based on the web manga, flips the usual romcom script by keeping the camera squarely on the admirers instead of the admired. You don't really get Ken's perspective; you get two friends spiraling into increasingly absurd plans and overanalyzing whether he looked in their direction during lunch. The humor comes from how recognizable it all feels: the overthinking, the schemes that go nowhere, the way a crush can make two otherwise normal people act completely unhinged. If you liked the friendship dynamics in Toradora or the awkward teenage energy of Kimi ni Todoke, this hits a similar nerve but leans harder into comedy. There's also a bit of Lovely Complex's vibe in how it mines everyday school moments for laughs. It's not trying to be a sweeping love story, at least not yet. For now, it's just two girls, one clueless boy, and a lot of misplaced enthusiasm.

My heart actually sank when Aimi talked about seeing Kirio crying in the hospital since it explains why she is so obsessed with seeing him smile again
I felt so bad when Kirio yelled at them on the field because Aimi was only trying to help him with that soccer game even if it was super weird
Manda doing that fake exorcism while Aimi sat there depressed was actually hilarious and it was exactly the kind of distraction she needed after getting her heart crushed
Those old people in tracksuits collapsing on the grass actually looked hilarious, but the mood shifted fast when Kirio finally lost it on the girls for being intrusive
if i were asked which anime would i like to be isekaied to I would choose this specific universe in a heartbeat. Manda is still my absolute favorite character and i am so glad those three became friends. still wondering if nami is ever gonna confess or if it will turn into yuri but if were being fr i wish they would take the non romanc3 ending.
This episode turns up the charm. The interactions' flow is so natural that you can easily get lost in their silly conversations. Everything moves at a gentle pace. This allows all the comedic moments to land right on target. I was genuinely impressed by the soft color palette used in the backgrounds. I felt relaxed after watching this one.
My heart actually broke when Kirio started talking to the empty swing and I just wanted to give him a hug because he looks so lonely
The way that police unit thought two teenage girls crying over a boy were high level criminals was hilarious until the episode got way too depressing
That scene by the train tracks felt terrifying because it seemed like Kirio might jump. It was so dark compared to the usual comedy and it really felt heavy
The police operation being just a couple of girls crying was so funny and then the show just punched with that hospital scene and I was not ready for Kirio to be that sad
Kirio saying no to the movie because of sensory issues was such a mood and it made so much more sense once you saw him crying to the theme song in his room and feeling guilty
My heart actually broke for Kirio when he was sitting on that swing alone and talking to the air and I really did not expect this goofy show to get so heavy with the terminal friend plot
