📖 SYNOPSIS
Having spent his entire life on battlefields as a teenage mercenary, Sousuke Sagara now has a new mission: protect a high school girl by pretending to be a normal student. He's terrible at it. Like, pulling a gun in the school hallway because someone slammed a locker terrible. That tension between soldier and student is the heart of Full Metal Panic, and The Second Raid is where the series stops messing around. This 13-episode TV series picks up after the first season and strips away a lot of the comedy to focus on what happens when Sousuke's two worlds start colliding in ways he can't control. A new terrorist group called Amalgam shows up with tech that can actually rival Mithril's, and suddenly the safety net Sousuke's been operating under starts fraying. Meanwhile, his relationship with Kaname Chidori — the girl he's supposed to protect, who also happens to be the one person who grounds him — gets tested in ways that actually hurt to watch. Kyoto Animation handled this one, and you can tell. The mecha fights are sharp, the character animation carries real emotional weight, and the pacing across 13 episodes is tight with zero filler. If you liked the psychological weight of Neon Genesis Evangelion or the political intrigue of Code Geass, this hits a similar nerve but through a more personal, grounded lens. It's the rare sequel that genuinely improves on the original.
