Takuya observing her struggle through her professional crisis was a heavy way to bridge into the next part of the story

Her being under this much pressure makes the connection to the larger mystery feel way more urgent and personal than the previous episodes

Watching Ayumi deal with her career falling apart while Takuya tries to figure out his father's research made for a really tense atmosphere. I wasn't expecting this much focus on her internal crisis, but it grounded the sci-fi elements in a way that makes me care way more about what happens to her and her family in the end
