Watching Ayumi deal with her career falling apart while Takuya tries to figure out his father's research made for a really tense atmosphere. I wasn't expecting this much focus on her internal crisis, but it grounded the sci-fi elements in a way that makes me care way more about what happens to her and her family in the end
