Shakugan no Shana: Season I

I'm coming from series like Soul Eater, Oshi no ko and Trigun. This first chapter felt like a warm welcoming to a old style of anime. I love how the anime begins using "in media res" resource. It's quite complicated at the begining, but later it becomes amazing.

I was apprehensive about this episode because, literally, before it reached the 5-minute mark, there were already 3 panty shots. But the scene where the flames devoured everything was beautifully done. I'm glad everyone is finally upfront with their feelings <3 10/10

Even though the story feels somewhat cliché, it still manages to make me feel emotional and satisfied. My only issue is, if only Yuuji would stop trying to please two girls and just focus on Shana, if he truly loves her. A great finale overall. I’d definitely love to see S2!

Hell yeah, this is exciting! Since this ep builds up the finale, I can see how the animators are putting much effort in the fight scenes; and most of the episode consisted of fights so I know the studio really did their best and bled their hands animating this. 9/10

To be honest, nothing much happened in this episode. It's merely an epiphany for Shana on what to do and how the others are peer pressuring her to decide lmfao The cliffhanger was pleasantly made, and it made me really look forward to the next episode!

Oh no, that cliffhanger was something else! For once, Shana actually acted to show her feelings for Yuji and just didn't go "urusai urusai urusai >_<". It's also cute how Yuji formed a gang of his own, and these people are willing to support him. He came a long way.

Is there even a villain here who isn’t a weirdo? 😭 Hecate’s suggestive moans and lines without context, are seriously dangerous! That aside, the battle scenes were pretty cool and it honestly felt like Shana was trying to take Yuuji back from another girl’s arms, lol.

First of all, I thought Shana was homeless. She apparently has her own apartment this whole time?! Second, Yuji really confuses me because he shows motive to both girls. I guess what happened to him at the last scene was truly a "dasurb 💅" moment because FAFO 👏👏👏

The robot-fighting scenes are surprisingly well done. I did not expect to see such mecha animation in a fantasy anime, but they still pulled it off well, so great applause to the Studio. We also got to see a bit more of the Yuji-Yoshida ship; it's nice to see a non-toxic romance.

The lack of explanation in this anime is something I really hate. After making me feel so tense in the previous episode, they just brush it off like that? I know Shana is a Flame Haze and she might be stronger than a normal human’s, but they should at least explain it.

I feel bad for Yoshida, she was brought into this mess against her will. Well, I guess everyone was the same, but for Yoshida it was a different kind of "forced against her will". Yuji, not evolving from episode 1, is still a scum by entertaining two persons at once.

This episode is not epileptic-friendly due to flashing lights during the climax, so epileptic viewers' discretion is advised. Though Shana's background was explained, I felt like it wasn't really explained well. They just showed what happened, but something deeper was going on.

Noooo what kind of cliffhanger was that! 😭 They really know exactly how to keep me hooked and desperate for more. I ended up hating Yuuji now, but I’m still hoping things will get better in the next episode.

Ugh, it hurts to see that Yuuji still doesn’t realize Shana’s true feelings. On the other hand, I can also feel Shana’s conflicted emotions—she wants to protect Yuuji, but at the same time she has to fulfill her duty as a Flame Haze to maintain to maintain balance of the world.

Damn, Shana really be walking around 80% of this episode literally half-naked with a bandage serving as her only source of "clothing". I'm still having a hard time understanding the logistics of their location, but it was slightly explained so the plot hole was slightly covered.

I guess the new villain is more of a comedic character than a serious one, and Yuuji, why did you leave Shana like that? She's crying, you know! 😭 Well, Wilhelmina's return at the end of the episode was a pleasant surprise. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Another "eccentric" villain, lol. I don’t like how Yuuji treats Shana in this episode and how he keeps avoiding his responsibilities. With so many characters now aware of each other’s secrets, I’m really curious to see what will happen next.

I have so many questions because this was geographically and anthropologically not possible. But I do hope that the next episode will answer this plot hole. This episode is a must-watch because it provides some background on Shana. 8/10

I really like how Shana’s cold personality starts to melt away. The scene where she learns cooking with Yuuji's mother really wholesome, and her excitement about going to festival with Yuuji also shows she’s starting to enjoy simple everyday moments.

The fight scenes in Shakugan no Shana lately are getting better. The end of their current enemies for this episode was kinda stupid, but it's better animated than the first. The beauty of this show lies in its fight scenes, not its plot. 8/10
