I thought this episode was just gonna serve as a conclusion for each of the characters after the REALLY intense battle in the last episode. But they did try to squeeze in a bit of emotional drama plus action into it. That ending was also a bit weird, but it is what it is ig.

YESS!! We love random demon adversaries popping up, and a whole gang that has never fought together is suddenly popping up to fight the main villain without any preparation. Hiyuu's whole speech just gave, "we can do this! With the power of friendship!!!" Even though the pacing is obviously much better, there are still things that don't make much sense.

That "I will tell you now, how it all began" was literally the shortest story ever. Pretty disappointing tbh. To be completely honest, Kisaragi should've finished the job; judging by how useless she is, it wouldn't have been that difficult to kill her off.

I don't know why Hiyuu decided to go with the girl when he knew it was a bit sketchy, but he did what he wanted to, I guess. Aoi also suddenly being completely overpowered when she's on the enemy's side is pretty frustrating. Also love how all the side characters from the previous episodes have decided to come together to join forces now.

Got a major reveal, and no one knows why it took so long. Also, my comment about how Aoi should probably abandon her beliefs still holds. The pacing of the actual plot is so slow it's frustrating.

Relationship-building episode? I know Sakurai was going through something this episode but didn't end up doing anything to put her at ease either... except that crisp ass slap. The thing between Aoi and Hiyuu was a bit random too... my girl Aoi really should abandon her beliefs cuz people have been dying in that damn town right and left.

Holy shit, it's the first time we've seen the police dude who smokes interact with the main cast. I was also surprised that the whole Tendou storyline was just dismissed initially. We got something about it towards the end, but that was barely enough. This anime would've been much better if things were just more systematic instead of things randomly happening.

Why does Aoi look so weird as a kid during the origin reveal (T - T). But it was adorable, especially the bit with the fireflies; the bond between Kisaragi and Aoi is hella cute. I disliked the first few episodes because everything seemed out of place, but things are making a lot more sense. I also have to mention that whole battle with Tendo felt like a fever dream.

Pretty much a "villains are created and not born" plot for this episode. Glad Tono is back to her original self. Love the hospital people who also specialise in rituals. The plot felt kinda predictable, but it was also kinda sad and wholesome.

Not gonna lie, I thought Tono was gonna be hunched over, dead in her room too. Glad she was okay; dunno for how long tho. There's a lot of time spent in the buildup, which takes too long. This episode was another weird one, which, if you study the pattern, should be concluded in the next episode.

There was way too much time spent on that backstory, and this whole episode felt a little off, but at least the relationship between Aoi and Kyouichi is getting better. I think they could've made Ryouichi's character and his attacks much better and turn into an actual threatening enemy, but no, they had to make him a whiny little kid instead.

So far, we've at least learnt that the demons are created by the dude with the fancy makeup and cool hairstyle. Most of this episode was Aoi fighting her inner demons and Kyouichi being an absolute ass, telling her she's weak and not to get in the way. I'm guessing it's gonna be one of those things where he's actually not an ass and is actually worried about her safety and wants her to stay away from harm, but I could be wrong.

The timeline feels very weird... we've skipped two months back for some reason. Even though it seemed like this episode was trying to explain the relationship between the characters, it did a pretty awful job at it. The dudes also do the most random shit. Yeah, the action is there, and it looks like it has potential, but the poor writing just makes it seem so out of place.

The soundtrack definitely helps make the scenes extremely intense. Especially the intro; there was enough going on to make your head spin. The characters look cool, but there's way too much we're expected to just roll with. The animation is decent too, but I hope the pacing gets better. Kyouichi is also my least favourite character already with his problematic dialogue and his behaviour. So, hoping for some character development for him.

Well, that ends one chapter of the series. It was ugly. The whole fight was overall kinda stupid and filled with cliches and tropes. The characters being one dimensional didn't help much with it because it was predictable. And the way it all turned out, it's like it wasn't even necessary. One more to go and now it gets proper serious. But will this have a good ending or just another ending where they suddenly go from useless to useful? Let's find out.

This is the kind of development I was looking for. Something that progresses the story meaningfully. The flashbacks shown to us before were finally explained and the situation is much more clear now. It's just so bizarre how the show has been structured up until now, like going backwards(?). But with only two episodes to go and how fast things are happening, and knowing that this show has another season, it looks like a lot of the lore is going to be left out.

Damn, what a terrible ending to a terrible first season of a terrible show. It's a shame because it had lots of potential but everything is so lopsided and shallow that it doesn't even make any sense. Even when it does start making sense, it goes back to normal like as if nothing happened. It's an interesting concept (as a show of this style, for the era it was made in) that was poorly executed. Legit like one of those time pass shows you'd watch on the anime channel as a kid, where every character is poorly designed/written and the story is shite. I'm glad it's over and I don't care to visit more of it.

This show really loves to explain the story through flashbacks, huh? Except that doesn't really help anyone because it's hard to follow. It really does feel like they're teasing everything by showing the history without explaining. Only problem is that Hiyuu is still very much an NPC with no value or purpose and emo guy, apart from his mother, we know nothing of. However, it does seem like the action is ramping up so there's that. But it's OK for now, nothing great.
