I'm coming from series like Soul Eater, Oshi no ko and Trigun. This first chapter felt like a warm welcoming to a old style of anime. I love how the anime begins using "in media res" resource. It's quite complicated at the begining, but later it becomes amazing.

How this episode became slow-paced, an info dump, and too fast, ALL WITHIN 24 MINUTES, is beyond me. The Sakai Yuji (the MC) seems shallow because pretty girls = "hope", whatever the hell that even means. The world-building could've been smoother. TLDR: bad first impression

There are quite a few unfamiliar terms that can be a bit confusing at first, but I think this episode did a pretty good job setting things up. What I enjoyed the most is the atmosphere and the music in this anime, they really make the story feel more engaging.
