Revue Starlight

Fitting for an anime themed around the pageantry of theatre, this finale really delivered on everything it promised to be. I also appreciate the fact that the show never failed to embody the hopefulness and optimism, identified through its narrative and characters, until the very end. It's such an easy watch; the visuals are breathtaking, the cast are really likable and fun, and the music is probably the most memorable part of the anime, by large, the best soundtrack that ever graced my ear. What an experience, hoping there is more to come for this story, I can't wait to see what it has in store for us.

They are really setting up this final battle as the very pinnacle of the series, and it's honestly working. Now that the true cost of winning is finally revealed, and the motives of each participant are as clear as ever, the stakes have never been raised higher. Nothing else left to say, this penultimate episode has achieved its purpose of hyping up the viewers for the finale of a lifetime.

Who knew that just a few changes in the stipulations would make these fights much more engaging? It also helps that it reestablished the bonds between close friends among the cast, not to mention they managed to sneak in some character development as well. But the real stinger is this setup for what appears to be the final confrontation in the series. With what we've seen so far, this would be quite intense. But for an anime of this quality, that would be a well deserved climax. Can't wait to see it.

If the last episode had the best fight in the series, this one was the most dramatic, had the highest stake, and had the most emotion among them. You can almost empathize with the people involved because of how vindicated they are in their belief that what they are doing is for everyone's happiness. Of course, not all would agree on the method but the meaning counts. I also like that the conclusion of the episode created a positive outcome for the cast, just for the sake of not dampening the vibe. This is an excellent latter half so far, let's hope it stays consistent.

In contrast with the preceding episodes, this one is centered around the history of one prominent character whose presence in the story changed the nature of the game for better or for worse. It also explains the consequence of not succeeding in the audition, and what the defeated could do if they so choose to go on. Basically, it's all about the signature duels of the series and this is probably has the best one yet, with the best music to go along with it. But now that the status quo has changed, how would the cast react? Only one way to find out.

Well, this explains a lot, at the same time it changes eveything about the narrative. I guess if the story becomes to idealistic, there's bound to be a catch to it. I just hope it does not go too far because it would probably affect the show's atmosphere, which is its strongest suite thus far. But it does open up its own Pandora's box for the future of the series and thus make everything unpredictable from here on out. That being said, I'm very eager to see how this plays out.

I like that because the rules of the battle royale of this show isn't as rigid as it is typically is, losing sometimes is more meaningful than winning. In the case of this episode, two characters with seemingly intimate relationship with each other, reaffirms their bonds through a battle of resolve and it's kind of moving. Just goes to show that there's more to the auditions than reaching the top, at times, it's simply carrying someone towards a particular goal. Mid season was joy to watch, excited to see what the latter half has in store.

This is some masterclass in pacing a story. They simultaneously presented a character's background, went through their motivations and objective, and had the time for some character development along the way. And it flowed smoothly, even being an essential part of this episode's fight scene. And what makes it better is that it made that particular character worth cheering for both by her fellow cast members and the viewers of this show. Halfway through and we're still going strong, ready for the next one?

While not the most action-packed episode, what this established is the wholesome, light-hearted tone of the series. In stark contrast witn other works in this genre, which sometimes try too hard to be dramatic or edgy, this anime fully embrace the fun factor without trying to downplay the determination of the characters in winning their personal battles. It's actually the perfect breather after the previous episode, and now we're back to business probably? Excited to see where we are going after this.

The competition is getting fiercer and participants seem to be getting more creative at trying to win their battles. Interesting to see the dynamics between each cast member trying to interact with one another, especially when they're hanging out with people they are not usually aquainted with. And by the way, the fight of the week concludes with a surprising twist, and how that would affect the narrative going forward would be a curious subject next episode. Quite a good reason to tune in, I know I would.

Now we get a little more lore on this series and what motivates the girls to participate in the auditions to begin with. Still, they left it as vague as possible to stir excitement from the fans, and it worked because the cast itself are a very likable bunch. I also appreciate that there are more variety in the fight scenes, forcing the protagonist to change tactics on the fly. I guess this is going for the "girl of the week" format, thrilled to see who is next.

It's a very strange mix of different genres (slice of life, magical girls, battle royale, etc.) but it works surprisingly well. While the story needs more context for the viewers to get some bearings with, there is enough intrigue to get them invested with the characters and setting as the show goes on. But the best part is always the music, and that's almost given considering the theme of this anime. The action scenes are awesome as well, animations are smooth and the color pallete is bright and dazzling. Looking forward to seeing more, this series is starting with a blast.

I'm so sad that we've reached the end of the show. 🥹 I really wish they gave the other schools from the game a chance to be in a new anime, but I'm still thankful they gave us Revue Starlight. No anime caters to me more than this as someone who loves musical theater and swords. 🤣 Anyway, the finale is mostly about Karen and Hikari, and it was beautiful. I'm not gonna say too much, just please watch it. You won't regret it.

WHAT A GREAT ENDING I WAS GENUINELY SOBBING everything about it was executed so beautifully. T___T i especially loved the detail of them still setting aside a hotpot bowl for karen and hikari :((( hikari desperately wants to save karen from herself, while karen wants nothing more than to stay by hikari's side. that's what makes this so heartbreaking. they're both acting out of love yet that same love keeps pulling them in opposite directions :((( i love this show so much omg

Heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. This episode really highlights the kind of bond Karen and Hikari have. Get ready to perhaps cry a little. 🤔 Just beautiful. I love this show so much and I'm so sad we're nearing the end...

"the stage is our heart, song is our pulse, passion is our blood." this was a very emotional episode 🥹 i loved the song everyone was singing and how it highlighted each character’s thoughts. what a chilling cliffhanger ??? this series is literally perfect 🥹

Intense episode, intense fights. Loved when they showed Karen and Hikari as kids—that was so adorable. The other half of the show is very dramatic, so prepare your hearts! Absolute cinema. Absolute yuri.

"You're cute when you cry, my Claudine." SOMEONE SEDATE ME RIGHT NOW. THAT WAS THE MOST INTENSE LESBIAN BATTLE ROYALE TOURNAMENT EVER.

Man, what an emotional episode. Learning more about Nana and what led to her making those decisions really helps you understand her more. Good thing she has Junna. The fight scene got me so hyped.

i had actual chills during their revue oml. i think this was the most intense fight so far. i understand Nana's perspective but at the same time, her twisted version of protecting everyone felt very delusional and selfish :/// another visually stunning episode as always !!! every scene was spectacular to look at. i LOVEEEEE their vocals and i especially love Junna and Nana's version of Fly Me to the Star. i never EVER skip that ending ost no matter which character is singing it
