Okami-San and Her Seven Companions

So we completely forgot about the Onigashima issue,huh? 😔 This episode felt so random, but I can’t say it was bad. The story was actually nice, especially since it strengthened Ryoshi’s resolve toward Ryoko. Still, I wish they had given the Onigashima conflict a proper conclusion instead of giving us this random detour. Overall, I found some of the themes fascinating for a 2010 anime, though there were definitely tropes that felt outdated.

Istg I crack up every time I see them all this serious, fighting in school territories. LIKE CALL THE TEACHERS BRO 😭 It felt like watching Avengers with how many characters showed up lolol

Woah, that was a good twist! Thing escalated that fast and Ryoshi here is busy with his cat boy lmao they’re a cute combo tho, I hope I see him in the next episodes.

That was a nice resolution. I’m glad I got to see more of Ringo beyond her cunning personality. Also, I love the touch of fairy tale elements in Ringo and Himeno’s characters, with Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood!

Now this is a useless episode. I don’t understand why Otogi Bank even had to get involved at all. They really just made an entire episode out of an excuse to insult all the pretty girlies in the show 🙄 The other story was definitely more interesting, too bad they didn’t show more of it.

If Ookami-san has a flaw, it lies in two things: this episode, especially after all the tension from episode 11, and the fact that this show never received a second season, leaving most of the story left unfinished for those who never read the source material. Even if this episode is a nice spin on one of the most sad tales out there, it ends up feeling lackluster even if it is still feels like a proper conclusion for the show, you still feel like it is missing something.

You know an episode means business when they skip the opening to go straight to the content. With the Otogi Bank’s greatest pinch and Ryouko kidnaped, it is time for the remaining Otogi Bank crew to get into action to save their companions! Definitely one of the most high tension episodes of the show, keeping you at the edge of the seat from start to finish.

With only 3 episodes to go, it is time for Ookami-san to put the somewhat episodic episodes to a rest and get start if the plot for its climax and finale, and it is exactly this that the 10th episode tries to achieve. With an overall plot revolving around Ryouko and the Onigashima student council president Shirou, the Otogi Bank is put through its biggest challenge yet.

In an anime about fairy tales and with one of the main characters being based by the Little Red Riding Hood and the apple from Snow White at the same time, it feels kind of obvious that they would reimagine the story behind Snow White at some point. And for our happiness, that happens in this very episode, with a twist that makes for a very funny but also touching story, specially for our dear Ringo-san.

Some episodes are very straightforward and then there is this episode that is… quite something. With two different story lines in the episode, one could think that it can become confusing, but the show knows how to deliver a satisfactory story even when it needs to handle more the one thing at once.

In a show that is all about reimaging fairy tales, there’s no way to avoid talking about romance and dates, but in true Ookami-san’s fashion, when it is time to have an episode about this topic, it must be executed in the most comedic way possible with some unexpected twists that turns the story in ways that the viewer does not expect.

There are many ways to revisit the past of the characters and Ookami-san takes a very fairy tale like approach to this in this episode following the hook left in the previous episode. While to some, this might not be an exactly funny or more actiony episode, it is still an important on to set our characters forward and more importantly than ever, to move the story in a direction that feel less episodic and gives us a sense of more narrative.

One of Ookami-san’s strong points as a show are its characters, and there is one that is ever present but not much appreaciated: The narrator. Yet still, at the same time, this same narrator can the shows worst enemy, like in this very episode. While they can be a funny presence with their talking and interjections, this episode shows what happens at the opposite side of this spectrum, with all the talking mostly getting in the way.

While the story is mostly centered around Ryouko, Ryoushi and Ringo, it is good to see that the other characters from the Otogi Bank also get a moment of spotlight to have their character, their past and their present flashed out, all while not neglecting our main trio of protagonists.

The story about the Hare and the Turtle is a classic. An overconfident hare and slow turtle that slowly and steadily wins the race. But what kind of twist can Ookami-san bring to such a classic and straightforward story? The answer might surprise you while giving a really funny episode with a lot of unexpected twists for some characters personalities.

Is Ryouko the big bad wolf or is she just a girl donning a wolf’s clothing? That is the question that this episode gives us viewers. And while the answer may not surprise us, the execution of how that is conveyed is pretty good and makes for a goof episode diving a bit more into the life of the Otogi bank’s crew.

What happens when you take two characters from a famous fairy tale and turn them into 2 cute anime girls? You get Ookami-san and her seven companions! Being a reinterpretation of the Wolf and the Little Red Riding Hood, you actually ended up with a story where the 2 of them a friends, living together and being on the same club. What at first might look like an odd combination is nothing more than the concept behind this anime, a funny and creative retelling of classic stories. And as an introduction episode, it is fair to say that episode 1 was able to deliver a satisfactory intro with lots of moments of laughter.

This sure was an interesting episode. I thought it’d be filler with cute moments, but it actually added something relevant to the main conflict which was a great surprise. It just showed that Ryoushi still has a long way to go before fully winning Ryouko’s heart. BUT YK THAT’S OK, WE STILL HAVE 5 EPS LEFT LMAO

What a cute resolution. We learned a lot, but not quite enough to solve every mystery. I’ve also grown to love Ringo and Ryouko’s tandem even more, and now that Ryoushi is in the picture, I’m glad Ryouko has more people she can trust.

Was it just me or was the narrator way more talkative this episode? It was pretty hard to follow what was going on when they kept interrupting important conversations 😭 These high schoolers are hilarious tho, it’s like some Weak Hero shi with all the fighting 💀 Someone call a trusted adult lmao
