Is Ryouko the big bad wolf or is she just a girl donning a wolf’s clothing? That is the question that this episode gives us viewers. And while the answer may not surprise us, the execution of how that is conveyed is pretty good and makes for a goof episode diving a bit more into the life of the Otogi bank’s crew.

This episode is interesting as well. I love that the other members of the Otogi Bank had time to show off their charms, especially Ryoushi. The story seems to be building up to something bigger, but I like that it isn't in a hurry. Even the romance feels like a slow burn, letting the characters build trust before taking the next step.

Episode Context

Episode 2 wastes no time pushing Ryouko Ookami and Ryoushi Morino past their introductory dynamics and into territory that actually matters. The title says it all, this is about deception, vulnerability, and the gap between the faces people wear and who they really are. Ryouko's tough exterior gets tested as she confronts insecurities she'd rather keep buried, while Ryoushi starts showing flickers of genuine backbone beneath his crippling shyness. The pacing shifts between tense, action-driven moments and quieter introspective beats that give both leads room to breathe. J.C.Staff keeps the comedy sharp enough to prevent things from getting heavy, but there's a noticeable tonal shift toward something more sincere compared to the first episode's broader setup. Expect a character-driven installment that rewards patience with its leads.
