Motto To LOVE Ru

Synopsis
Rito Yuuki never gets a break—he's always finding himself in lewd accidents with girls around him. Although his heart still yearns for Haruna, his childhood love, Rito can't help but question his feelings for Lala, the alien princess who appeared in front of him and declared she would marry him. But now, it's not just Lala he has to deal with: her younger twin sisters, Momo and Nana, have also traveled to Earth, wanting to meet their older sister's fiancé, and just as luck would have it, they end up staying at Rito's home. Meanwhile, amidst the bustle of his new family members, Yami, the human weapon girl, begins her pursuit for Rito. It's not an easy life for Rito as he deals with uncertain love, punishment for being a pervert, and a girl dead set on murdering him.

We're jumping straight into Pool episode, which unfortunately skipped a few precious moment in my opinion, but still, this is where the cage really opens for Rito's potential. Saruyama get overlooked most of the times but really, it's him that kept Yuuki grounded and helped him to man up and do what he has to do, kudos.
NYOHOHOHOHOH! This episode has all the girls I'm cheering for, absolutely biased opinions here. Smol Rito and Mikan, a space-assassin in love and the outlier Nana! We're getting into more of the emotional and slightly tense part as we approach the end as the main heroines finally got honest with each other.
The rarest fanservice of them all, Momioka Risa of all people. Seriously though, even for a supporting character I do find her ridiculously charming despite her carefree and teasing attitude. Yeah, the old me would absolutely get dog-walked by women like her.
We rarely get any famillial moment for the Yuuki's but seeing smol Rito and Mikan playing together in the snow is really heartwarming, that scene hit too close to home tbh, I almost forgot this segement existed for such a long time.
If you speak Japanese or watched enough anime, it's really funny how Maron's way of talking is that of a really old fashioned yakuza or a rogue samurai. The clash with the soft and girly his owner, Haruna is really funny to me tbh. Also good to see more of Nana!
Jealous is not enough of a word to fully convey my feelings to Rito when he had Yami on his back, seriously F him. Jokes aside, if you read the manga before you watch then you're going to notice some slight changes to fit the anime but nothing too important to be honest.
Ah, it's really rare to see this girly side of Lala. I'm happy the anime took this segment to show the depth of her character to show that Lala is not just another genki trope but a girl who doesn't know how to express her feelings and wants at times. It's heartwarming really.
We knew Run/Ren were childhood friends with Lala, but we never really got any explanation or flashback about their younger days until now. It's really cute and heartwarming, though maybe Lala didn't quite matured from what she was in the past lol.
ARRGH, CUTENESS OVERLOAD! THOU SHALL NOT UNDERESTIMATE YAMI'S CHARM! I liked her when I was 15, still do now some odd years later, iconic. We also got more proper spotlight for Momo and Nana here as well, giving more depth and insight to characteristics of the girls.
It's Kotegawa and Run centric episode, rejoice you minorities (JK, they're very lovely. Nothing compared to Yami tho.) Also, a bit of friendly advice, don't watch the second season in public. The fanservice is WAAAAAAY more dangerous than the first season.
Compared to first season, the fanservice in Motto are still outrageous and absurd but the fact they insert more emotional perspective from the girls is a great improvement. If I was Mikan, I wouldn't show up to school anymore tho, the shame is too great lmao.
Second season of To Love Ru are way more enjoyable than the first season, instead of one long filler in an episode, we got engaging multiple segments instead. Make sure to pick up the 2008 OVA and some early chapters of before you start the second season or you'll miss some context and new characters introductions like Nana and Momo though.
IS THIS WORTH WATCHING? Here are my points to consider (considering you have watched the previous season): Just like the previous season, it felt like the studio randomly picked chapters from the manga and adapted them into episodes, making most of the episodes feel non-linear This season doesn’t have any filler, unlike the previous season which consisted mostly of filler episodes Most of the side characters’ storylines were not adapted into the anime The studio assumes viewers have already read all the manga chapters before watching the anime There is an improvement in the art compared to the previous season Most of the episodes are either a 1:1 adaptation or contain only minor changes from the original source material The ending of the anime is the same as the original source material Some stories in the episodes have an increased amount of fan service compared to the original source material A small trivia : Haruna's character design is based on the ex-wife of the illustrator Yabuki Kentarō
The episode begins by adapting Chapter 119 before transitioning into Chapters 159–162, the manga's final chapters. The adaptation of Chapter 119 leaves out some important panels, which is a slight disappointment. However, the adaptation of Chapters 159–162 is handled effectively, with the exception of an omitted scene involving Rito that pushed him to have a talk with Lala. While this season does not provide a flawless adaptation due to the omission of some side character's storylines, it still delivers a satisfying ending that remains faithful to the manga's conclusion.
Adapting Chapters 157, 158 and 116-118 of the manga. The first story focuses on Mikan and a bit of her backstory when she and Rito were young. The adaptation remains faithful to the manga, with the main difference being how the flashback sequences are presented. The second story is another well-executed adaptation. Although the anime alters the sequence of events from the manga, the rearrangement improves the flow and restores what feels like the intended order. As for the third story, with three chapters being adapted within a limited runtime, a completely faithful 1:1 adaptation was unlikely. However, the studio did an excellent job selecting the most important panels from the manga, allowing the story to flow effectively despite the time constraints.
Adapting Chapters 129, 147 and 155 of the manga. The first story is adapted from a chapter set after Celine's transformation. While the adaptation remains largely faithful to the manga, it omits the scene where Momo explains the circumstances surrounding Celine's change. The second story remains faithful to the manga, while the added anime-original scene at the end provides a subtle hint that teases something interesting. The third story is another example of a faithful manga adaptation. One notable addition from the adaptation is the stronger emphasis on Yui's fondness for cats, highlighted through the various cat-themed items in her room and her phone strap.
Adapting Chapters 130, 152-153 and 154 of the manga. The first story is another 1:1 adaption to the manga. The studio even improved some scenes, making them more impactful and enjoyable to watch. The second story cuts out a few manga panels, but luckily, it keeps most of the good parts😏. The third story is another example of a well-executed adaptation. Although the studio made a few changes from the manga, they were handled well and ultimately helped elevate the overall experience.
Adapting Chapters 156, 43-44 and 139 of the manga. The first story begins with an anime-original scene that does not appear in the manga, lasting until Nana's introduction. Despite this change, the studio's decision works well, as it provides additional context for Haruna's involvement with Nana and enhances the story's final scene. The second story adaptation omits Lala's perspective entirely, choosing to focus only on Rito's side of the events. This feels like a missed opportunity, especially since Lala's portion of the story includes several humorous moments. The third story was a solid adaptation. A few manga panels were left out but they don't really affect the story or the overall experience.
Adapting Chapters 45, 123 and 64 of the manga. The first story adaptation features several notable changes from the manga. The cause of the illness differs from the original source and the anime alters the continuity of Rito and Lala's visit to Mikado's house. In the manga, this was their first visit but the adaptation had already established their first visit on the past episode. The second story adaptation features only minor changes, although some context from the original source material was left out. The third story has quite a few changes, especially at the ending which includes a scene that was not present in the manga.
Adapting Chapters 113-114, 70 and 80 of the manga. The first story takes place on a beach and stands out as a solid adaptation, as it effectively condenses two manga chapters into a single episode segment. For the second story adaptation, the studio omitted the context that Lala also wears clothes that were not produced by Peke. Aside from that, it is a solid adaptation with very few changes from the manga. The third story is also a solid adaptation, with very few changes from the manga. However, there is one particular scene where Lala's voice acting made my skin crawl due to how awful it sounded. I don't know if that was intentional or not but it was very bad.
