Synopsis
Nobu has a simple goal: a job. In a wasteland where civilization has collapsed and dangerous warlords rule everything, that's already a rough starting point. Through a combination of bad luck and worse judgment, he ends up enlisted in Raoh's Army, the most feared military force in the post-apocalyptic world, as a completely expendable foot soldier. You know the type: the nameless goons who get punched through walls in the original Fist of the North Star and never get thought about again. This show is entirely about those guys. Nobu and his fellow low-ranking soldiers are just trying to survive their shifts without getting obliterated by some legendary warrior passing through. The grim, brutal setting of the classic series is still there, but the camera has swung all the way to the bottom of the food chain, and it turns out that perspective is genuinely funny. Episodes run around four minutes each, so it moves fast and never overstays a joke. The motion comic visual style gives it a slightly offbeat look that works well for the comedic timing. If you liked Gintama's approach of wringing absurdist humor out of a serious fictional universe, or the way One Punch Man reframes heroism from an unexpected angle, this operates in similar territory. It does not require deep knowledge of Fist of the North Star to follow along, though fans of the original will catch extra layers in the parody.

The whole Mohawk family bit had me dying. Grandma with the pink mohawk in a wheelchair yapping about the old days and then the mom trying to seduce him with that purple aura nonsense. Ended up being another dream trap for Nobu which is getting predictable but still funny
Every single member of that family having the same cobra tattoo and mohawk is exactly the kind of absurd joke this show nails. Nobu waking up screaming again though? Hiro Shimono doing the same panic bit every episode is starting to wear thin on me
The fact that both commanders got punished by their bosses afterward is such a real career consequence. Also Nobu's reputation keeps growing from accidents he never even committed. This man is living off pure rumor economy
Hub and Komaku ditching their entire mission to go get drinks together is the funniest thing this show has done. Nobu just standing there holding an apple while his two would-be captors become best friends in front of him. Peak workplace comedy
The way that wood splinter hit Heart was pure comedic timing and the aftermath had me dying

I lost my mind listening to them breakdown why someone screams Okaka or Niku right before exploding. The serious debate over random food words is unmatched
