I wasn't really expecting a hentai from the eighties to actually make me feel sad for the characters, but this one did it. The way they handle the two main characters and their weird life together was actually pretty interesting and I think the animation still holds up better than a lot of the newer stuff I have seen lately.

the tone jumps around too much in this one and it makes it hard to get into the romance side of things

that mix of a sad ending with the sci-fi stuff really worked for me and it made the whole thing feel way more intense

that 80s aesthetic is so good and the heartbreak story actually felt heavy and not just like random scenes mashed together

The transition from the previous dream theme to this heavy reality was sudden and it makes the loss sting

This one is way more grounded than the dream fantasy stuff, and the focus on these two characters makes the sad ending feel earned

My heart actually sank during that final scene because the title definitely did not lie about the heartbreak

You can tell they wanted to do something different here because the sadness feels very grounded and heavy

The melancholic tone really sets this apart from the rest of the episodes and it feels way more personal

I went into this expecting the usual anthology weirdness but the emotional weight of these two people just trying to exist together hit me so much harder than I expected. It is such a massive contrast from the fantasy dream logic of the previous episode, and it makes the heartbreak feel grounded and tangible in a way that actually made me care about them.

The way this one shifted from the last episode was jarring but that ending really sticks with you

That departure from the dream world into this sad reality makes the whole story feel much heavier

A series like this going for such a sad vibe is weird and it actually works better than the fantasy stuff

I did not expect to feel this sad watching Cream Lemon today because that heartbreak really hurt

The pacing felt incredibly dragged out for such a simple story and it lacks the weird energy that usually makes this show interesting to watch when the episodes are actually creative

You can tell the budget was a bit thin in some scenes but the overall vibe of this episode captures that specific 1987 aesthetic perfectly and it moves along at a decent enough speed

The ending sequence really stuck with me because it felt much more melancholy than I anticipated and the hand drawn animation during the musical bits is really something special for its time

The character designs have that classic 80s look that you either love or hate and the plot for this one feels a bit more like a soap opera than the usual sci-fi stuff

I really did not expect the music in this to be so catchy for an 80s ova and the way the heartbreak theme played out felt surprisingly grounded for this kind of series

Ruri really should have thought twice about using magic to age herself up because that date turned into a nightmare and she looked so overwhelmed by the end

EPISODE CONTEXT

At episode 23 of 38, this entry sits in the latter half of Cream Lemon's run, a stretch where the anthology tends to explore more emotionally complex and tonally varied stories after establishing the series' range early on. As a standalone installment in an episodic format, it does not depend on prior episodes, but its placement suggests a matured, reflective phase of the series. What follows in the remaining 15 episodes continues the anthology pattern, so this episode functions as a self-contained emotional beat rather than a narrative bridge.
