I finally tracked down this old ova and the art style is so 80s and weird in a good way

i usually skip through these but the way the early spring concerto melody kept playing in the background during their final scene together actually made me stay and watch the whole thing through because it felt like a real movie and not just some cheap ova from the eighties plus the way he held her hand while they played together was sweet

that shift in the lighting from the blue evening hues to the warm morning glow after they finally confessed their feelings made that whole sequence feel incredibly soft and romantic

It is definitely more of a romance than a fantasy story, but the pacing drags a lot during the middle sections when they are just sitting around talking about their feelings

seeing the way the light hits the piano keys in those close up shots makes the whole atmosphere feel so much more intimate and cozy compared to the weird sci-fi episodes

my heart actually sank when she started crying over the sheet music because i totally get that pressure of wanting to be perfect for someone you love and the voice acting was great

the ending felt way too rushed and they barely spent any time on the actual relationship before jumping straight into the sex scenes which ruined the whole musical theme they were going for

that piano scene was actually really pretty and the way they used the music to build up the tension before they finally got together was way better than the usual stuff in this series

you can really tell this one had a bigger budget for the animation because those shots of the cherry blossoms falling while they played the concerto together looked amazing for something from the eighties

The way the music stops right when she looks at him during the solo is perfect, and it makes that final hug feel so much more meaningful after all the practice scenes

the drama felt a little forced to me and i found the main guy kind of annoying when he kept hesitating during the music practice session even though the art style is super nostalgic

My heart actually hurt a bit during the final goodbye at the train station and that swelling music just made the whole encounter feel so much more meaningful

You expect something totally different from this franchise but the emotional weight of the breakup scene actually makes you forget it is an adult ova for a second

It is wild how this series can jump from sci-fi parodies to something as quiet and moody as Early Spring Concerto. You really get caught up in the romantic tension before it gets explicit, and the way the animation handles the lighting in the music room is actually pretty impressive for a random OVA from the late eighties. It feels quite different.

That specific 80s spring vibe captured in the art style is so nostalgic and you can really feel the longing between the characters during the concerto sequence

I think the piano music during the intimate scenes really set a weirdly beautiful mood for this one and it felt way more like a real drama than the usual stuff in this series

finding an uncensored version of this is impossible and the official ones are basically unwatchable with all those blocks

it felt so lonely for me watching this because only the main girl has any lines and the rest of the world is silent

the dialogue is so crude, and the lack of a full cast makes the whole experience feel very hollow

the art style is nice but that solo narration style is a weird choice for a concerto story

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 24 of 38, this episode is a direct follow-up to 'Etude: Snowy Heartbeat,' picking up Yurika's arc where that entry left off and deepening the emotional groundwork already laid. Within Cream Lemon's anthology structure, it is one of the few multi-part stories, giving Yurika's narrative unusual continuity and weight compared to standalone entries. It positions her story for further development in later episodes while reinforcing the anthology's recurring interest in love, personal growth, and consequence.
