Synopsis

Back in sixth grade, Yukiya Asagi and Miku Sakura made a dumb game: take turns saying "I love you" and whoever gets flustered first loses. The thing is, four years later, they're still playing. They're entering high school now, and neither one has backed down. What started as a silly dare between kids has quietly turned into something neither of them is ready to admit — because at some point, the words stopped being a game and started meaning something real. That's the setup for Aishiteru Game wo Owarasetai, a 2026 TV series from Felix Film based on a web manga. It's a romance-comedy built around one very specific tension: both of these two clearly have feelings for each other, but the rules of their little competition give them the perfect excuse to keep saying "I love you" without ever having to be honest about it. The comedy comes from watching them try to stay composed while their hearts are doing backflips. If you liked Kaguya-sama: Love is War, this has a similar vibe — two people who refuse to be the first to crack. But where Kaguya leans into mind games and strategy, this one is warmer and more grounded, closer to Toradora or Tsurezure Children in how it handles genuine emotion sneaking up on people. It's a childhood-friends-to-lovers story, but the game mechanic gives it a neat twist that keeps things from feeling predictable.

My favorite part of this series is its art style. I absolutely love everyone’s character designs, whether they are part of the main cast, supporting cast, or background characters. That said, the craftsmanship of this series is really amazing. I love the colors, visuals, subtle details, and even the “low-quality” production moments, which still have great effects, especially when it comes to the animation and art style. Story-wise, this is pure sugar. This series probably has the most romantic tension throughout the season. The sexual tension was not bad either, although I have to give the crown to The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. That series was on another level when it came to sexual tension. To nitpick, though, their romantic progress was a bit slow. I mean, they already act like a couple, but they just cannot get past that stage. Yukiya was also pretty cowardly. This guy is so indecisive when it matters. Overall, I would rate this series a 9/10. It is fun to watch, and the visuals are great, but I cannot give it a perfect score because of how slow their relationship progresses.

The series really wrapped up well with this episode. The dramatic tension between them is gone, they are back to their usual selves, and, most importantly, their characters developed nicely. That said, the tease at the end was perfect. I mean, the way it took advantage of the plot was a really nice finishing touch. On another note, I found the slideshow-style animation kind of funny—It was just so cute. The visuals in this episode may have been simple, but they were clean and vivid.

The strongest part of this story is its realism. The characters don’t feel exaggerated; they feel human. Their struggles—holding on when it hurts, letting go when it’s hard—are relatable and grounded. You can feel the tension in small moments: silence, hesitation, things left unsaid. Emotionally, the series leans toward a bittersweet tone rather than pure sadness. It doesn’t just show heartbreak, but also growth. The idea that ending a relationship can sometimes be an act of self-respect is handled in a mature way. The pacing is slow, which works for the atmosphere but might feel dragging if you expect constant drama. This is more of a reflective, character-driven story than a high-energy romance. Visually, it tends to use soft tones and subtle expressions to highlight emotions rather than flashy animation. The soundtrack (if present) would likely complement this with calm, melancholic music. Overall, I Want to End This Love is a thoughtful and emotional romance about knowing when to let go. It’s not about a perfect love story—it’s about a real one.
