I loved this episode. The comedy at the start was so funny. It helped balance the somewhat moody atmosphere that the situation required. But I loved how Onoda's goofiness made everything lighter. Because in his eyes it isn't that serious. So seeing the kind of serious situation play out, but to him it's not that serious. It's such a funny contrast, but also a very good contrast too. Because without it the entire episode would have felt a bit flat. But because we had that contrast, it made it more entertaining which makes it more entertaining to watch.
This episode kept me smiling from beginning to end. What starts as a simple challenge slowly becomes much more interesting because of the personalities involved. Onoda's motivation is so uniquely "him," and that's exactly why he's easy to root for. I also liked how the tension kept building without feeling too dramatic. Definitely made me want to watch one more episode!
I guess someone's ego got bruised by the previous episode. The atmosphere's tension changed quickly. It's so funny how they are suddenly talking about anime. How Miki's eyes sparkle when she figures out something about bikes. Oh! I'm gaining new knowledge in this anime, I didn't know that.
