The pacing was a bit slower this time, showcasing a more emotional side of the story. Honestly the soundtrack really pulled everything together, and the chemistry between the characters were top notch, especially Hak and Yona😭

Synopsis
Sheltered behind palace walls, red-haired Yona — hopelessly in love with her cousin Soo-won — has absolutely zero awareness of the world outside. Then her 16th birthday arrives, and she watches Soo-won drive a sword through her father. That's episode one. From there, Yona flees into the wilderness with Hak, her bodyguard and childhood friend who's been quietly in love with her for years, and the real story begins — watching a sheltered girl who couldn't hold a weapon slowly become someone worth following. The character growth here is genuinely earned. Yona doesn't suddenly become a warrior overnight. She struggles, she's terrified, and she builds herself up piece by piece across 24 episodes. Meanwhile, the fantasy world around her — inspired by East Asian history and mythology — keeps expanding with political intrigue and a quest rooted in ancient legend. The soundtrack carries a lot of emotional weight too, pulling you deeper into moments that might otherwise feel familiar. If you liked Fushigi Yuugi or The Twelve Kingdoms, this hits similar notes — a girl thrust into a dangerous world with mythical warriors at her side — but with a more grounded, romantic edge closer to Saiunkoku Monogatari. The biggest complaint most people have is that Studio Pierrot gave it only one season and the manga keeps going. Fair warning: you will want more when it ends.
