There is a saying that a lot of shows like to use that goes something like “Great power comes with a price”, and while this phrase is not stated in this episode, it is the sentiment that is passed. Power comes with a price, and it can have its consequences, and that is exactly what’s turning this season into something bigger and better than what we got on season 1.
Hibiki going full berserk, regenerating her arm, ripping out the Nephilim's heart and annihilating it entirely is one of the most unhinged action sequences in the season and the show plays it with complete sincerity. the horror of watching Hibiki lose control is balanced by the sheer spectacle of what her berserked Symphogear can do and Tsubasa deciding to keep the truth from the others — using the berserk state as an excuse to tell Hibiki not to transform again — is exactly the kind of protective instinct that the show uses well. the fact that the Nephilim's heart isn't destroyed but harvested by Ver is the kind of twist that recontextualizes the apparent victory immediately. great episode.
So our seinen show reverted by to being shonen again. Hibiki got her left arm back after tapping into the power of the Nine Tails. Which also burned away the slimy stuff binding Tsubasa and Chris. I honestly thought the old lady died. Speaking of death warmed over Dr. Ver looked like shit he aged considerably in the few wee hours when he ran off. He's the embodiment of "He needs some milk" the guy's been running all night and managed to clear a only a few meters at best. Tsubasa pulled the oldest lines in the book on Hibiki to keep her safe. Surprised she didn't say she was ugly chased her away and threw a rock at her for good measure. All in all a good episode highly recommend!
