Episode Context

Sitting roughly at the midpoint of the series, this episode marks a critical transition point. Kenshin has completed his journey to Kyoto and now begins assembling the tools and alliances needed to face Shishio's growing threat. The preceding episodes focused on the road to Kyoto and reuniting with key allies like Misao, while this installment lays groundwork for the resources Kenshin will need, setting up pivotal developments around his iconic reverse-blade sword. The Kyoto arc's stakes are quietly escalating beneath the surface.
