Ramen Akaneko
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When Tamako Yashiro strolls into a job interview at a ramen shop staffed entirely by cats, she tells the feline manager she's actually a dog person, and he hires her immediately. The catch? She's not making ramen or waiting tables, but her entire job is taking care of the cats who run the place. That's the setup for Ramen Akaneko, a 12-episode TV series from 2024 that's basically a workplace comedy where your coworkers are anthropomorphic cats with actual job titles. There's Bunzo the head chef, Sabu his assistant, Hana handling customer service, and, this is the part that got me, Krishna, a tiger whose sole responsibility is making the noodles. The humor comes from Tamako trying to navigate a job she never signed up for while these cats treat the whole operation with dead seriousness. It's got that same cozy, low-stakes workplace energy as Aggretsuko, just swap the corporate grind for a ramen counter and the red panda rage for cat-wrangling. If you vibed with the warm everyday feel of Tamako Market or wanted something lighter than Muteki Kanban Musume, this fits right in that space. It's adapted from a shounen manga, runs short episodes, and never tries to be more than what it is: a gentle, funny show about a girl and her weird cat coworkers making ramen.
