I didn't expect the father-son dynamic between Nagi and Sarutahiko to work well here, seeing as what the latter did in the first episode. I was thinking Nagi would experience torment that would be difficult to watch, but nope, it's the opposite. The moments with Sarutahiko and Nagi were actually pretty wholesome despite the tension between the two. We also get to see more of the one who orchestrated the invasion, who is Himiko. I have to say, she is absolutely vile, with very few, if any, redeeming qualities. I didn't think I'd be rooting for Sarutahiko because of what he did, but now I do. Great character development I'm noticing so far with this series!

A gripping and grounded chapter that takes the story in an intriguing direction! Centering on Saruta and Nagi’s survival journey gave their complicated relationship plenty of room to develop. The detailed environmental hazards and the encounter with an entirely new community added great depth to the overarching lore. A wonderfully paced episode that builds anticipation for the challenges ahead!

The story takes an interesting turn that I didn't expect from episode one. Lady Himiko is a great villain, reminiscent of the evil queen from Snow White. Also, damn! Poor Hinaku!
