this is one of those filler episodes where kiba and akamaru get their own spotlight but its honestly kinda forgettable, the premise with akamaru acting out of control has some emotional weight but the pacing drags and theres not much payoff by the end, fans generally see this as one of the weaker filler arcs

The bacteria plot is such a weird concept for this show, but seeing Kiba get so desperate that he would fight his own comrades for Akamaru really made the episode feel earned

Hana showing up to help save that dog was such a pleasant surprise, I mean, it really hit home how much the Inuzuka care for *all* their ninken, not just the ones they fight with directly. It's always a treat for me to get a little glimpse into the other Konoha families, even if it's just a side story that fleshes out the village a bit more.

That ending where they finally get the cure feels right after all the stress of watching Akamaru go berserk on everyone in the woods

People usually skip these filler episodes and I get why because nothing moves the main story forward but this one felt different since the bond between Kiba and Akamaru is so central to his whole character and watching him struggle against the village to save his best friend made for a surprisingly heavy story that actually kept me interested throughout

Even though this is just filler, Kiba showing that much heart for his dog was actually touching and way better than the usual boring side missions we have been getting lately

Watching Naruto try to fight off a giant rabid Akamaru without actually hurting him made me realize how much he respects the bond between those two

It is definitely strange watching a ninja dog turn into a literal monster and try to bite everyone but at least the Inuzuka clan stuff felt somewhat grounded compared to other filler plots

seeing kiba refuse to give up on akamaru even when everyone said he was too dangerous was actually so sweet and he really would do anything for that dog

Those ANBU guys are totally heartless for trying to put Akamaru down just for being sick and Kiba was right to run away with him to find a real cure

Hana stepping in to help with the medical side of things was a cool way to show the Inuzuka family dynamic and it was a relief when they finally managed to stabilize the big guy

You have to feel for the poor dog when he starts losing control because his whines were gut wrenching and it made the whole situation feel way more serious than your average side story

The way Akamaru looked while he was transforming was genuinely disturbing, and seeing Kiba get so desperate to find a cure before the Anbu arrived was the only thing that kept this episode interesting

Kiba having to face the possibility of losing his best friend and seeing him go against the village rules to protect Akamaru really shows how deep the loyalty of the Inuzuka clan goes

That scene where Akamaru is just growling at everyone is so weird and it definitely feels like one of those random filler plots that goes a bit too far with the body horror stuff

I usually skip these filler episodes but seeing Kiba get some focus was actually nice for a change, and it was honestly heartbreaking to hear Akamaru in so much pain from that virus, especially when the Anbu just wanted to put him down like he was nothing but Kiba and Hana working together to save their dog really showed how strong their bond is

Watching Akamaru turn into that giant red beast was actually pretty terrifying and you can really see how much Kiba cares about his partner when he stands up to the Anbu guys

I felt so bad when Akamaru was whining and crying because it was just too much for a filler episode and Kiba refusing to give up on him actually made me tear up a bit

It was heartbreaking to see Akamaru turn into a monster and attack his own master, but Kiba never gave up on finding a cure

EPISODE CONTEXT

Deep into the filler stretch that dominates the back half of Naruto's 220-episode run, Episode 184 sits between 'The Star's Radiance' and 'A Legend from the Hidden Leaf: The Onbaa!' as another standalone character spotlight. It contributes nothing to the overarching Naruto-Sasuke narrative but continues the series' pattern of cycling through side characters for individual development episodes. Skippable for plot-focused viewers, but worth a look for Kiba completionists.
