this is peak weird filler energy - naruto gets a giant creature stuck on his back and just has to deal with it for the whole episode, it's goofy and harmless but nothing about it sticks with you after it ends

Naruto lugging that giant blob around on his back was seriously cracking me up, I just couldn't believe how much trouble that little thing caused him! It felt like a classic Naruto struggle, where he means well but everything goes hilariously wrong, making me laugh so hard I almost cried.

That talking ostrich is the realest villain in the series, because seeing it stand over a defeated Rock Lee was very shocking.

Having Naruto look like a tired parent with that creature on his back is so stupid and the ostrich was way too strong for no reason

You think you have seen everything in this show and then an ostrich named Kondoru starts using ninjutsu and shadow clones against Lee

To me the sheer audacity of making a whole episode about a baby monster stuck to Naruto's back is weird but then you add a talking ostrich that knows martial arts and it becomes even crazier and the way it mocks the serious flashbacks is hilarious while Lee is getting his pride destroyed by a bird and I just can't get over it

It is so weird how that Onbaa just grows bigger and bigger while Naruto carries it around and the flashback parody had me laughing

Watching Rock Lee get absolutely wrecked by a talking ostrich and a kangaroo is hilarious and it shows how stupid this show can get

I honestly cannot believe they gave an ostrich dialogue, but seeing it kick Lee's face in was extremely hilarious.

Naruto spending the whole time with a giant furry thing on his back like its mom is the most ridiculous filler ever and you have to see the ostrich fight

I watched an ostrich use shadow clones and beat up Rock Lee and my brain is actually melting right now

Young Sannin in the flashback with Jiraiya dealing with the same creature on his back was such a good way to tie in the legend

That ending where the mom Onbaa shows up and Naruto is just relieved to finally have his back free was such a funny conclusion

Naruto struggling to eat ramen with a creature clinging to him is a funny moment for these filler episodes and it is better than the boring ones

It was funny seeing Naruto try to train with that thing hanging off him, and the way it just kept growing until it was bigger than him was absurd

I died laughing when Hinata turned bright red and passed out after seeing Naruto with that thing on his back because her reactions are always the best

You can tell the writers are just making stuff up now because a monkey bird thing that thinks Naruto is its mom is a wild concept

Usually I skip these fillers because they feel like a waste of time, but the legend of the Onbaa was actually kind of funny. Tsunade explaining how it works while we see that flashback of Jiraiya getting stuck with one too was the highlight for me. Naruto walking around with a giant monster on his back made me lose it

I actually laughed out loud when the Onbaa started growing while Naruto was still trying to do his normal ninja stuff and it just got so huge

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in the extended filler stretch that dominates the back half of Naruto's original 220-episode run, Episode 185 is a standalone comedic entry with no connection to the main storyline. It follows Episode 184's Kiba-focused filler and leads into Episode 186's 'Laughing Shino,' continuing a pattern of character-driven one-offs that cycle through the Hidden Leaf cast. None of these episodes advance the overarching narrative toward the series finale.
