my heart hurts seeing kakashi failing those kids because he is still stuck in his own grief over obito and rin and he really needed that push from the third hokage

guy being so persistent even when kakashi was acting like a total jerk just proves he is the best friend anyone could ask for

those flashbacks with younger kakashi and rin looked so crisp and the colors in those scenes made the sadness feel heavy

Hiruzen stepping in to pull Kakashi from ANBU was such a relief, I could practically feel him seeing all the pain my boy has carried. It really felt like a father looking out for his son, and I'm just hoping this finally gives Kakashi a chance to breathe and find a new path.

Kakashi's ANBU days were so much bleaker than I'd pictured, and what really resonated with me was how relentlessly Guy and Asuma tried to pull him from that dark place. They just wouldn't let him push them away, and I think that steadfast friendship was honestly the lifeline he desperately needed to become the caring sensei we all know.

Kakashi's frustration with those failed teams not getting the teamwork thing really got to me, knowing his past with Obito and Rin. I kept thinking he'd just give up on being a jonin sensei forever, so it was actually pretty shocking when he agreed to lead another squad right after all that.

Kakashi looked so lost walking through the village, and it made me wonder if he'd ever truly shaken off the ghosts of Obito and Rin. When his friends rallied around him, though, I knew that push was exactly what he needed, and honestly, seeing him finally embrace that leadership felt like a huge relief to me, even with his reservations.

Ugh, I really wished they'd just get on with the main fight already! While I appreciate learning more about Kakashi's past and how it shaped him, all these extended flashbacks are making me so impatient, even if they explain a lot about his trauma. It's like, okay, we get it, it was rough, but can we move forward now?

Guy really stepping up for Kakashi in that flashback made me realize how much of a mess things could've been for Naruto and the others if he hadn't spoken up. It just makes me wonder what kind of teachers they would've ended up with, or if Team 7 would have even formed the way it did, without that crucial intervention.

Kakashi, despite having learned so much about the importance of teamwork from Minato, still ended up sending his own genin back to the academy, and I found myself feeling genuinely sympathetic for his struggle. It makes me realize just how much trial and error he went through to become the effective leader of Team 7 that we know later.

Even though it was technically a filler, I actually found myself empathizing with Kakashi as he struggled to figure out his leadership role with those genin. It makes me see his initial harshness with Naruto and the others in a new light, like he was still carrying the burden of past failures.

It was wild watching Guy and Asuma genuinely try to pull Kakashi away from the ANBU's darkness; I always knew they were tight, but seeing them actively worry about him and his mental state really cemented just how deeply they cared for their friend, going beyond just being comrades.

It really caught me off guard how much Obito's history with Rin recontextualizes his entire take on the bell test. I just never fully appreciated the sheer weight of his past trauma twisting his vision of teamwork, and watching that idealistic, early Team 7 honestly gave me chills, knowing the tragic path they'd all eventually walk.

I totally get why Kakashi failed all those early teams, he was still so caught up in his ANBU past and probably didn't even realize how much that was affecting his judgment, those poor genin must've been so confused by his bell test.

It totally blew my mind realizing that Kakashi's whole thing with sending teams back wasn't just him being a jerk, but him desperately trying to find a team that would value teamwork like Obito did. I mean, it's kinda heartbreaking when you think about how long he was searching for that connection again.

Neji's backstory was so heavy I almost couldn't take it, but then Guy's absurdly intense training session with Neji and Lee totally cracked me up. I felt like it was such a classic Team Guy moment, reminding me that even after all the tragedy, their unique bond and spirit were still there, shining through.

I’m finding myself so drawn into Kakashi’s ANBU past; it's really showing me the immense weight and silent battles he carried long before he ever met Team 7. Thinking about all those failed genin teams before, it absolutely reframes their bell test, making me realize what a hard-won personal victory that was for *him*. And watching Guy consistently stick by his side, even when Kakashi was clearly isolating himself, that friendship felt incredibly deep to me.

I can't believe how many other genin squads completely flubbed the bell test, it really makes me wonder if Kakashi always set the bar so ridiculously high, even back then. Thinking about his own tragic past, it's like he was subconsciously trying to save every team from making the same mistakes he saw or experienced, which honestly makes his strictness feel less cruel and more... protective.

The weight of those bells for Kakashi? I finally understood it watching his backstory, it's far more than just a simple teamwork lesson from Minato. It made me totally connect why he pushes his own genin so hard – it's a painful reminder of his past losses and how much he values the bonds he has now.

It's wild how much I felt for Kakashi, trying to put on a brave face for Team 7 when his own past with Rin and Obito was still such a raw wound. I couldn't help but wonder if he saw pieces of them in Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, making his sensei duties feel even heavier than they already were.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in the extended Kakashi backstory stretch, this episode follows the darker Uchiha clan-focused events of 'The Night of the Tragedy' and pivots toward a more hopeful trajectory. It functions as a deliberate bridge between the ANBU-era darkness and the formation of the genin teams, leading directly into the next episode, 'Team 7,' where Kakashi first meets Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. While classified as filler, it contextualizes a character transition that the main canon largely skipped over.
