Kabuto's identity crisis is really a big factor of what he is now. Very well executed to his character.

Itachi doesn’t try to overpower Kabuto instead, he carefully sets up a way to trap him.

orochimaru knew exactly how to use kabutos identity crisis to pull him into the darkness after that rejection by nono

my heart actually broke for kabuto when his mother didnt recognize him in the rain after all those years being a spy

danzo literally created a monster because of what he did to that orphanage and it makes the foundation look even worse

The animation in this flashback is actually insane, and it really helps sell how tragic his life was before meeting Orochimaru.

watching kabuto lose his entire identity while serving as a spy for the leaf is just tragic even if starting a whole war over it feels a bit much

I was genuinely disgusted by how Danzo and the Foundation manipulated that poor orphan boy; it makes me wonder if the Leaf Village's ideals were always just a facade, or if it's slowly rotting from the inside.

Kabuto's face when his "mother" didn't recognize him was just heartbreaking, I felt a real pang for him then. It totally explains why he's always been so desperate to find where he belongs, like that moment just solidified his entire identity crisis for good.

Seriously, my heart just broke for Kabuto watching Danzo orchestrate that whole setup where he had to kill Nonō, his only real family, and then she couldn't even remember him because of those darn pictures. It's such a sick twist of fate, and it honestly makes me wonder if he ever really had a choice but to become Orochimaru's right-hand after being so utterly broken like that.

Kabuto's flashback, where he accidentally killed his adoptive mother, genuinely unsettled me. I couldn't help but feel a pang of dread, seeing how one tragic, horrific moment irrevocably shaped him into the person he became, almost like his fate was sealed right then.

I was on the edge of my seat when Itachi finally kicked off the Izanami, but honestly, that stare he gave Kabuto just before everything went down? It sent shivers down my spine, it was so utterly ruthless and made me think about all the things Itachi had to sacrifice.

Ugh, Orochimaru really proved he's a total snake, didn't he? I mean, preying on Kabuto when he was so lost, just filling his head with all that nonsense about finding a purpose—it's just so *him* to take advantage of someone like that.

Okay, I was completely caught off guard by how sweet Kabuto's past with Nono and those little glasses was; it just makes me understand his later identity crisis, and how he turned out, in such a heartbreaking way.

Kabuto's whole story with Danzo just messed me up, like, I knew the guy was manipulative but seeing how he utterly twisted Kabuto's desire for a home into a weapon was a new low. It really makes you question everything about the Foundation's 'justice' when they build their operations on such cruel psychological warfare.

I seriously felt for Kabuto when Nono didn't recognize him; like, how do you even recover from hearing something that soul-crushing from the person who basically raised you? It just makes all his later choices feel even more tragic to me.

I swear, it always comes back to Danzo and his stupid Root organization messing everything up; seriously, how many times has he caused problems for Konoha? It just makes me so mad thinking about how they twisted a sweet, innocent orphan into that without any real justification.

Kabuto's whole life just utterly shattered again when Nono couldn't even remember him after everything he did, and I'm genuinely shocked how deeply that final betrayal solidified his path. It really makes me understand why he clung to Orochimaru so desperately, looking for any sense of purpose after Danzo had already broken him. I never thought I'd feel this much empathy for him, but this episode laid out his tragedy so bare.

Kabuto, man, it was heartbreaking watching him try on all those different names, searching for somewhere he belonged. I just felt so raw seeing him desperate for identity, and then for Orochimaru to pop up and subtly twist that pain into his own advantage? My blood boiled at how perfectly he knows how to manipulate.

EPISODE CONTEXT

This canon episode arrives as a narrative interlude during the high-stakes confrontation between the Uchiha brothers and Kabuto, offering critical backstory after episodes of intense combat. Kabuto's origin story enriches the emotional stakes of the ongoing battle by grounding his motivations in deeply personal history. It directly sets the stage for episode 337, 'The Izanami Activated,' where the confrontation reaches a decisive turning point informed by everything revealed here.
