Synopsis
A fight with his dad sends Ikuto running from home, boarding a ship, getting thrown overboard in a storm, and washing up on an uncharted island with no electricity, no modern technology, and absolutely no men. The entire male population disappeared in a fishing accident years ago, leaving behind a community of women living by Meiji-era customs, completely cut off from the outside world — and surrounded by whirlpools that make escape basically impossible. The first girl to find him, Suzu, is warm and genuine, but pretty quickly the whole island decides that Ikuto is their ticket to repopulating, which creates the kind of chaotic harem energy you'd expect from a 2007 shounen comedy. What makes it work better than you might guess is the setting — there's something genuinely charming about a tropical island with old-fashioned customs, anthropomorphic animals wandering around, and the occasional yokai causing problems. It keeps things feeling more whimsical than your average harem setup. The tone is consistently lighthearted, the humor is mostly situational rather than mean-spirited, and the 26-episode run gives the characters room to breathe. If you enjoyed Seto no Hanayome or Girls Bravo, this hits a similar register — grounded lead surrounded by escalating absurdity. It's not reinventing anything, but it's a comfortable, easy watch with a distinct atmosphere that separates it from the crowd.
