By day, Meimi Haneoka is a perfectly normal 14-year-old — Catholic school, stage magic hobby, mild crush drama — but by night, she slips into a disguise and becomes Saint Tail, a thief who steals stolen things back and returns them to their rightful owners. Her friend Seira, a nun-in-training, hears people's troubles through confession and passes the cases along. It's a quiet little system, and it works great — until her classmate Daiki Asuka Jr., son of a detective, makes it his personal mission to catch Saint Tail. He just doesn't know the girl he's chasing sits a few desks away from him every morning. That dramatic irony is the whole engine of the show, and it runs on romantic tension more than action. Meimi leaves Asuka Jr. a notice before every heist, he shows up, she outsmarts him using sleight-of-hand and stage magic, and they both go home with slightly more feelings than before. If you liked Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne or D.N.Angel, this is very much in that lane — magical girl-adjacent, shoujo-paced, and built around a slow-burn will-they-won't-they. The faith element through Seira gives it a slightly unusual moral texture for the genre. It's a 1995 TV series with 43 episodes, so the storytelling is episodic and gentle. Not edge-of-your-seat stuff, but genuinely charming if you want something warm and low-stakes with a romance that actually pays off.
