Synopsis
All Tsukasa Akeuraji ever wanted was one thing, to be a competitive figure skater, but he started too late and life moved on without him. Now he's broke, taking an assistant coaching gig, and basically running on fumes. Then he meets Inori, a quiet fifth-grader who sneaks into the rink to practice because her mom won't let her skate; partly because Inori's older sister already tried and failed. Two people held back by the same thing: starting too late, being told it's too late. So naturally, they team up to prove everyone wrong. What makes Medalist hit different is how grounded it feels. This isn't a flashy sports anime where talent solves everything. It's about a kid fighting through self-doubt and family pressure, and a washed-up adult finding purpose through someone else's dream. The emotional beats land hard, and the show earns every one of them. The figure skating sequences are genuinely gorgeous too; they brought in real professional skaters like Akiko Suzuki for the choreography, and you can tell. ENGI put real care into making the performances feel alive on screen. If you liked the raw emotion of Yuri!!! on Ice or the way Run with the Wind made you care deeply about every single character's personal struggle, this is in that same lane. Welcome to the Ballroom fans will also recognize that mentor-student energy. It's a 13-episode TV series based on a seinen manga, and the pacing is tight. Bring tissues.

solid opener to competitive sports, you'l always compare geniuses to yourself and have a goal to strive to
Oh my god Inori. How can she not be best girl? Look at her smile...
Now, the actual training for Inori under Tsukasa begins. Like almost everyone, Inori too struggles at first but with practise she finds herself improving. The true examination of her progress is the badge test. Watch ahead to see the results!!
The fact that Inori is so driven towards her passion despite zero formal training & no support system either is so motivating to watch. An unlikely partnership is formed between her and a former skater, and I'm curious to see where they'll lead us.
The CGI was so smooth and watching it gave me goosebumps :') Our baby grew up so fast, and I feel so proud of Inori and Tsukasa's growth. Sports anime best genre!
The character development is huge for a 13 episode anime and the pacing was balanced all throughout. And that ending definitely set the tone for the next season. Masterclass writing!
What a satisfying ending! All that hard work really paid off. The narration during the performance was delivered so well too
The entire narrative while Tsukasa was skating was top-tier storytelling. So glad Rioh and even Mittens found their resolve in this episode. The growth arcs are moving steadily
I completely forgot about that we had another coach coming haha but that lesson really expanded on the world-building. Seeing everyone's improvements makes me feel so proud~ And Tsukasa's performance was awesome too!
Always wanted to see a Tsukasa spotlight and this episode didn't disappoint. That was so prettyyyy~ and the training camp's ending feels so satisfying too!
The developments in this camp is so satisfying. Seeing Miketaro and Natchin again is a nice touch on the writing. But the best part is the Rioh and Tsukasa character exploration. The cliffhanger left lots of hype to be anticipated too!
Whenever we get lore topics, I can't help but feel proud of Tsukasa at every turn. He's worked so hard, and he's doing an amazing job as a coach. The storytelling here is executed perfectly
Every episode is such a trip. The pacing of events is so balanced and the comedy keeps things interesting. Didn't expect a training camp to be this fun of an episode
Tsukasa's reaction in that first meeting was everything lmao bc same. The pressure is on! Rioh's mindset on things is quite the contrast from other kids, making him a deeper character than I expected
Did not expect this turn of events but Rioh's arc makes things more interesting. Can't wait to see how Tsukasa handles this one. I do not have the patience for kids like this sjksjdfks
Aaaaa kids 😅 as expected hahaha fights and rivalry ensues. But this episode is a nice change. Tsukasa and Inori's resolve is so inspiring to watch
The first half was so hype! Then the energy slowed down and just got more intense because of that fall. But it's great that both Tsukasa and Inori had some character development themselves through this
Inori's and Ema's performances are distinct but both make me feel so proud of them. They really deserved this spotlight. The coaches behind them are supportive as ever too!
Ema's performance is so prettyyy~ the backstory behind it makes it even heavier. Character development well executed
"Shaved years off" moment was too funny lmao. But tbh same, this entire episode is too stressful. The relatability is crazy with the amount of unknowns. The skill of the other competitors doesn't help either. But Inori, you got this!
