Tsukasa's reaction in that first meeting was everything lmao bc same. The pressure is on! Rioh's mindset on things is quite the contrast from other kids, making him a deeper character than I expected

Did not expect this turn of events but Rioh's arc makes things more interesting. Can't wait to see how Tsukasa handles this one. I do not have the patience for kids like this sjksjdfks

It is amazing to see the growth in Inori’s performance. We can see how determined she is to beat Hikaru. The good thing is that Tsukasa has realised her potential. Good episode with some humorous moments.

Didn't expect for this blonde kid to have much of importance, but well, I can't wait for his character to grow up and develop together with coach Tsukasa. It's understandable, the words you hear as a child can really put a toll on you.

This episode is a reward for long-term viewers. Seeing the "dork" from episode 1 stand up for her coach and perform high-level athletic feats on land is incredibly satisfying. It sets a clear, exciting path toward the national stage.

Focus shifts to determination and pushing limits. The effort and dedication begin to show results, and it’s honestly impressive how far the characters are willing to go to improve and succeed.

Rioh is honestly kind of a meanie, but he's got his own issues to deal with. Don't bully my girl Inori; she's so optimistic. This is the first time I have seen Inori riled up, but I completely support her. GO INORI!

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the three-quarter mark of a 13-episode season, 'Howling at Night' builds directly on Inori's momentum from her strong showing in the 'Western Powerhouses' two-parter while introducing a pivotal new dynamic through Tsukasa's potential mentorship of Rioh. This episode serves as a critical inflection point — raising the stakes for both leads before the final stretch — and feeds directly into episode 11, 'Dance the Night,' where the consequences of these emerging challenges and relationships begin to crystallize.
