Synopsis

Rune Balot is weeping and trying to save both herself and a severely injured Oeufcoque from Shell's assassin Boiled. Luckily for her, Doctor Easter finally shows up in the Humpty Dumpty – a special militarized vehicle made for protecting those in Welfare cases if their lives are threatened. From there they go to Paradise, where the Scramble 09 technology (and Boiled's rebirth) was developed. All of the secrets of the past of Mardock City (and possibly its future) are revealed in this riveting second part of the Mardock Scramble series, upping the stakes and making Balot choose between justice for herself or peace within Paradise instead. The mature themes, nudity, and graphic violence continue in this sequel, although to a much lesser extend than the last film. The pacing has improved which makes the story feel tighter and more focused. As a result of this, two central locations are featured. Unfortunately, the story becomes a bit more confusing in these locations. The latter half of the film being particularly bizarre with a long gambling sequence that drags on way too long. Overall I enjoyed the first half but felt the second half was mainly filler to setup the final film.

I was quite surprised that this movie has very deep religious and spiritual elements. Actually, if the audience has sufficient religious and spiritual knowledge beforehand, then they will definitely understand the core story and the premise that this movie wants to convey. What I like about this movie is, it is able to build the atmosphere and emotions of the audience slowly. This movie will not let the audience get lost in boredom for long. The quality of the animation is also quite detailed so that the audience feels amazed and terrified at the same time.
