Mahoro's backstory is brutal, this episode takes a more serious approach taking us directly inside of Mahoro's fears and doubts. I wasn't expecting the show to take a negative stance at how popular the BL genre had gotten in anime and manga, but I guess that's how things worked back in 2001. The entire show would be so much better if Shikijo sensei didn't exist.

A chilled episode, I am kinda happy that Misato cares for Mahoro that mouch to find out what's troubling her and also that he trusts her. Their relationship has definitely improved.

After the genre High Stakes Action Dynamics, with tension up and breathtaking from the last episode, the scene has slowly transitioned into deep emotional drama, conveying a subtle message about how love's eternity remains unaltered by time and distance

Episode Context

Eight episodes in, the series pivots from lighter slice-of-life territory into something weightier, building directly on the previous episode's excavation of Mahoro's past. Tou Ryuga's introduction signals that the show is beginning to pull threads from Mahoro's history as a combat android back into the foreground. This episode bridges introspective character work toward the more active dynamics that the final stretch of the season, beginning with 'Limelight', will demand.
