Mahoro's backstory is brutal, this episode takes a more serious approach taking us directly inside of Mahoro's fears and doubts. I wasn't expecting the show to take a negative stance at how popular the BL genre had gotten in anime and manga, but I guess that's how things worked back in 2001. The entire show would be so much better if Shikijo sensei didn't exist.
