Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha is a fairly solid mahou shoujo anime - but it does have it's flaws. Pacing 6-10: Frankly, it's a mixed bag. The pacing in the first half with the Jewel Seeds felt rushed to get to the more interesting second half, which I preferred. However, that same rushed pacing in the later half felt like it worked against the show. The final confrontation against Precia had that feeling of rushed conclusion. Visual 7-10: I think there's a lot of really impressive and experimental animation. For example, in the first episode where Nanoha is running in the dark. That scene felt very vivid and dynamic, almost as if we were running alongside her. On the other hand, I felt that some character designs felt lacking like Arf. The final castle also felt bland and copy paste. Writing 4-10: Overall, the story did not really impress me. This ties back into the pacing feeling rushed, we were more or less rushed into conflicts without sufficient context. Sometimes world building moments would be included afterwards. Like we only get information about Al-Hazard in the final episode. The combat system also felt a bit lacking and unrefined, fights felt more or less like a free for all. Nanoha in particular suffers from this, we just see her performing magic feats without any training whatsoever. You could chalk it up as her being talented, but its also possible to chalk it up as lazy writing. Emotional Impact 9/10: I think Nanoha's strength lies in it's characters, not its plot. Nanoha resolving herself after failure with the Jewel Seed in episode 3, Fate finally becoming her own person, side characters suffering because they notice something is bother Nanoha but cannot help her in any way. These are all really strong points of Nanoha's characters; they're relatable and immersive for us as the audience. Soundtrack: 8/10: The opening theme by Mizuki Nana is very impressive and catchy to hook you in. The ending theme by Yukari Tamura is very relaxing and fits Nanoha as a character. Fate has a one time special theme which was very epic and helped hype up the experience at the end. I recommend this show if you want a decent Mahou Shoujo anime with a great cast. I do not recommend this show as a starting point for the genre.

I really liked that, in the end, it was Nanoha who reaches out a hand to and rescues Fate. It feels like the culmination of the whole show, the relationship of these two characters. Their goodbyes and trading of their hairpieces was also a beautiful representation.

Although I felt that Fate's rebound seemed little rushed, I really liked that it concluded with her teaming up with Nanoha. Her dramatic entry into the fight and her theme playing was very entertaining. The end of Presia also felt poetic to a degree with Fate giving her one last chance.

Finally get to see op Nanoha after her many previous defeats against Fate. We also get to learn about who Fate really is and her tragic background. Very epic and emotional episode

Really cool entrance from Nanoha as she enters the battlefield to save Fate. I really like Yuuno's and Nanoha's relationship. I also really like that Yuuno is mostly human in the fights now.

Very lore heavy episode. Chrono and his mother also seem like really interesting characters to introduce. It was also a very interesting dynamic to see all three different "mothers & their child" and how these three are now coming into conflict.

Things take a turn for the spectacular as we are now introduced to the Time-Space Administration Bureau. I'm curious to see how they are related to the seeds and Fate's mother if at all.

I really like how there's emphasis on the people around Nanoha understanding that there's something that she's hiding and worrying about her. It's very realistic in that regard. Especially with Arisa and Suzuka, since their history with Nanoha explains why Nanoha is trying to get through to Fate.

Holy fanservice - so much that it might be entering unnecessary territory. Other than that, a decent episode as Nanoha resets after her defeat and we learn more about Fate, her familiar, and why she is looking for the Jewel Seeds.

The mystery of the rival seems really interesting. Despite Yuuno saying that she's from his world, the rival seems to have a home and a family. So I wonder what the means.

So I guess Nanoha is just "Her" huh? I like the future tech style of magical girl here. Today's monster design was slightly better.

Really great animation despite its age. For example, that scene where Nanoha is running to the vet at night was like movie level budget. Monster design could have used a bit more creativity imo.

What a perfect finale to an incredible season. The final escape from the collapsing dimension is so intense, but the absolute best part is seeing Nanoha and Fate finally call each other by their names

The truth about Fate origins is so heartbreaking and it completely broke my heart. Watching Precia spiral into absolute madness makes her a terrifying villain, but seeing the TSAB fleet launch their massive raid on the Garden of Time gives me chills

This episode is the peak of the whole season for me because the duel between Nanoha and Fate is just breathtaking. The animation during their final clash is top tier, but seeing Nanoha use her new trump card truly gave me goosebumps

The mystery surrounding Fate's mother is finally revealed and it is absolutely chilling. Seeing the cold cruelty of Precia Testarossa makes me feel so much pain for Fate. However, the way Nanoha refuses to give up on her despite all the chaos is what makes this series so special

This episode is such a tearjerker and it makes me love Nanoha even more. Seeing her push herself to learn new spells just so she can finally reach Fate is so inspiring. Her determination to be a friend instead of an enemy is the heart of the show

I love how this episode expands the world and shows Nanoha visiting the massive TSAB ship for the first time. The sci fi vibes are incredible, but the best part is seeing her team up with Chrono. Their synergy against the monster makes the final battle totally unforgettable

This episode completely blows the lore wide open and I am totally here for it. The arrival of the massive Time Space Administration Bureau ship is breathtaking, but Chrono Harlaown stealing the spotlight with his insane combat skills is definitely the absolute best part

I love how this episode focuses on the emotional fallout of Nanoha getting her butt kicked by Fate. Seeing her go into a sad slump is so heartbreaking, but watching her find her resolve again is amazing
