Macross Frontier
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Born into a legendary Kabuki family, Alto Saotome ditched the stage because all he wants to do is fly. He's training to be a mecha pilot on Macross Frontier, a massive colonial fleet drifting through space with a whole civilization onboard, humans and Zentradi living side by side. Things are pretty calm until two women crash into his life at roughly the same time: Sheryl Nome, a galaxy-famous pop star touring the fleet, and Ranka Lee, a cheerful green-haired girl working at a restaurant who dreams of singing herself. Then an unknown alien species called the Vajra shows up and starts tearing through the fleet's defenses, and Alto gets pulled into S.M.S., a private military outfit flying cutting-edge mecha called Valkyries. Here's what makes this 25-episode TV series from Satelight land differently than most mecha shows: the music isn't just background. Sheryl and Ranka's songs are woven directly into the battles and the story's emotional beats, and the love triangle between the three leads actually has weight to it. The animation holds up well, mixing traditional work with CG mecha sequences that still look sharp. If you liked the drama and relationship dynamics of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED or the way Evangelion layers personal conflict over its battles, Macross Frontier hits a similar nerve but with a warmer, more romantic tone and a killer soundtrack driving the whole thing forward.

Goes as well as you'd expect, this finale epitomizes the franchise as a whole, not straying from the themes that endeared it to long time fans. Epic battle sequences and lovable characters makes it a must watch even to those who loved the original series, I highly recommend it.
Well, this is the last opportunity for the series to make a mark in the industry and they're going all out. And even with an ending like that, viewers are well versed enough to know that this anime can pull something out of its sleeve in the end. This is going to be a wild ride.
This episode ties up all the loose ends before the finale, pretty much confirming all the speculations the fans had when the plot started to unravel. I guess there's nothing more to do than look forward to the climatic battle that will settle everything in the show's conclusion.
There were hints about these events happening in the previous episodes, but I never imagined that it would blow over after these recent developments. It's as exciting as it can get, now the finale becomes more unpredictable as pieces are setting at their rightful place storywise.
The show is on a roll with these emotionally charged episodes, giving us an idea of how much these recent events have affected the characters. Hard choices are made and the loved ones are left have to deal with the fallout. Still hoping it resolves in a satisfying manner though.
And the show finally did something that it tried to avoid doing in the past episodes. The worst part is that it came after a major development on that character, which is really heartbreaking in a lot of ways. Stakes are at an all time high right now, the real fight begins.
The show hasn't done this for a while, but I really like the shifting mood and atmosphere in this episode. Underneath the cheery background, danger lurks from the most subtle and unexpected source. This is setting up for a finale guaranteed to be a memorable moment for the fans.
This is probably the most dire moment for our heroes, with the reveal that their enemies are far more resilient than they initially thought. Additionally, a soul-crushing truth about one of the main character is bound to make things a lot more miserable, hope this doesn't last.
It seems like the limelight is being shared generously across the board. This time we get a flasback and focus on one of the most reclusive characters in the series. And you would assume that this would be one dark episode, but it ended up heartwarmingly wholesome instead, neat.
Aaaa gilaaaa keren bangettt endingnya.
This is quite uncomfortable to watch, the episode clearly hints that this is a sort of prversion of the spirit of the franchise. In contrast with earlier instances were the shows two genre actually connect with each other, this time it felt forced. This does not feel right.
This is a "partly" recap episode, considering that in addition to retelling past events, they also made a massive lore dump that explains so much about the plot through its runtime. Consequently, it's made quite apparent that there is more to the story than we initially thought.
Keren banget episode inii.
Makin sini makin bikin penasaran.
