Let's Go Kaiki-gumi
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Imagine having six times the susceptibility to ghosts and monsters compared to the average person — it sounds like a terrible trait to have, and for our nameless protagonist, it absolutely is. His life gets considerably worse when he crosses paths with Mechako, a sharp-tongued, enigmatic girl who runs the Kaiki-gumi — basically a defunct supernatural police force that used to keep ghosts and monsters in line. Now she wants to rebuild the whole operation, and guess who just became her reluctant recruit. The setup is straightforward: Mechako drags this poor guy into increasingly bizarre situations involving unruly spirits while he'd clearly rather be anywhere else. The comedy comes from the contrast between her total confidence and his complete lack of enthusiasm for being haunted on a regular basis. Think of it as a school club anime, except the club activity is wrangling the undead. The vibe sits somewhere between comedic and genuinely creepy, with C-Station adapting the web manga into what looks like an episodic monster-of-the-week structure that still builds toward something bigger. If you liked the supernatural odd-couple energy of Yakushiji Ryōko no Kaiki Jikenbo or the delinquent-with-a-cause feel of Gokusen but want it filtered through a ghost story lens, this is worth keeping on your radar for 2026. It's not trying to reinvent the genre — it just looks like a fun time with solid character dynamics and enough spookiness to keep things interesting.
